BBC News' report on the Darlington nurses just now was utterly disgraceful.

Misgendering the trans person throughout, presenting it entirely from the complainants' perspective and including no trans voices, using transphobic tropes and making the trans woman out to be a pervert. Impartial, my arse!

Poppies & cornflowers became symbols of 11 Nov thanks to women forgotten by history. Every year on the anniversary of 1918 Armistice, English-speaking countries traditionally wear a poppy, while the French don a cornflower. This custom was intended to raise funds for wounded war veterans

My cishet white RP-speaking son hates walking through the flagged-up areas in his uni city, while feeling very much at home among, for example, the fireworks of Diwali a few weeks back. If he feels uncomfortable, I can’t imagine what it’s like for anyone with a different skin tone, accent etc.

Want to know why the prisons system seems to be suddenly falling apart?

Well, it's not sudden. It's just suddenly being REPORTED. This rot was a deliberate policy choice, and I kept the receipts. Because I'm not the BBC.

(A note on what Tories did to cause this, from The Decade In Tory)

These are the people who forged Electoral College vote certificates and tried to pass them off as real, right in front of the whole country.

Maybe the most insane crime of them all.

Nothing quite more depressing than seeing north Wales comms/stakeholder jobs advertised at Β£30k requiring two languages, and similar monolingual jobs in the south of England for Β£50k.

Mick Waddington is Reform UK's candidate in the Barnoldswick, Pendle by-election.

He's "campaiging to protect Pendle's care homes".

No one seems to have told him that Lancashire’s Reform-run council plans to close their care homes and day centres:

Peterborough infirmary appears to have a very low mortality rate for surgery in the 19th century but I have nothing to compare it to. Has anyone seen any published stats on their travels?

My company food allowance is Β£50 per day. Realised I can buy a couple of homeless people a sizeable meal whenever I travel and consume fewer calories at the same time. Makes me feel great and have had some great chats with real people. Do it if you can.

U.K. friends. A friend of mine in Wales is in dire need of legal representation in the next couple of days, ideally someone pro-bono. Do any of you peeps have someone to recommend? Family law specialty would be ideal. I'm contacting a Citizen Advice for him tomorrow, but it's a matter of urgency. 😱
