Yes, exactly! It's a bit of a pain but you get the hang of it. Try not to tighten the C1 as it would make a visible dent around the round, or C2 as it would make inserting your hook in the next round difficult

Good luck !! It's a bit of a pain switching between the two colors, I think you can achieve a similar result by just doing a round of slip stitches with your secondary color at the cost of a little seam

Basically between the two colors you make a round where all the top loops of your stitches are made with your second color. I find you gotta keep the tension fairly loose so there's no seam at all

I've found a way to make super clean color changes, it's way more effort but man is it worth it!
