Still optimistic, despite the evidence. Still a scientific researcher, evidently.

Nov 1997 was when BBC News 24 launched, that's when the real decay began. Just reporting facts was no longer enough, too repetitive and boring apparently. Tabloid sensationalism emerged and unsubstantiated opinion was reported unquestioned to fill schedules.

Point taken. However, I still think we'd have been in an EVEN worse place if the Tories had stayed in power.

Yes, we're still going downhill, but some people on here appear to have forgotten just how awful those last Tory governments were. Things are dire now, but worse than if the Tories had retained power? I may need convincing.

Under the Tories we expected a 3 out of 10 government, but got a 1 out of 10. We expected a 7 out of 10 from Labour, but got a 2. Labour's not worse, but they're an even bigger disappointment.

Yeah, but at least things aren't getting increasingly worse at an ever increasing rate anymore. Credit where it's due, Labour have managed to slow down the rate of shittification a smidge compared to the previous government.

Some good news.

London is meeting legal limits for toxic NO2 pollution for the first time – almost 200 years earlier than predicted – following the Mayor’s "world leading air pollution policies," City Hall announces.

The Ultra Low Emissions Zone - and similar policies - really do work.
