While #Australia is facing both #gas shortages and increasing industrial closures due to skyrocketing gas prices, Japanese companies are onselling vast amounts of our gas for a profit.

It is time for government to seriously look at diverting some of our #LNG exports towards the domestic market.

What #gas shortage? #Australia has more than enough gas to cover its needs. #LNG producers sell enormous amounts of gas in discretionary 'spot sales' - beyond their contracts - which could be diverted to the domestic market with the right policy.

#Australia has already approved way more #coal mines than it needs to meet expected demand, so why approve more?

The capacity of approved coal mines already exceeded production by about 70% in 2023 and would be about 2.5x higher than IEA forecast levels under their 1.7C scenario
