There was a series of owners after the GCN founders sold out. Eventually GCN+ got caught in a flurry of desperate, rushed, ill conceived downsizing by Warners who wanted to appear like they were doing something proactive, despite the fact GCN+ was financially viable on its own. Collateral damage.

They = Various incarnations of Warner media, which is now “Warner Bros Discovery” - they own HBO. There’s been a series of mergers & acquisitions over the years. It’s very complicated. The current incarnation is going to be split into two companies.

Interesting developments re cycling coverage on HBO/Max in USA. Pro races used to be in the premium “Bleecher Report” section, which has entirely gone away. New “TNT Sports” section has been added, but cycling is under “HBO Max,” despite showing TNTSPORTS logo on screen during races. 🤔

Have any of these couch potatoes actually ridden a bike down a v steep descent, let alone crashed on one? I have and have been scared shitless. I heard a discussion recently between 3 top pros who have won many races who readily admitted they were often scared and didn’t go all in. That’s normal.
