Not thrilled my favorite team got a tie (which they were very lucky to get given near-suicidal clock management), but it is and always has been objectively hilarious to watch NFL players (and a lot of fans) trying to process a tie. Like it's an affront to life itself.

You see it all of the time and you saw it again tonight ... coaches and players have completely lost the ability to manage the clock. Yesterday, Iowa managed the clock terribly in trying to kill the game. Tonight, the Packers were doing God knows what in the waning seconds of OT.

The Guardian Cap looks goofy on a helmet compared to what we’re used to, but it serves a positive purpose, and if I look at it a certain way? It’s kind of … funky? Like it’s a helmet ‘fro? Or maybe a modern version of the 80s Huddles plushies?

Crown of the helmet is such an asinine distinction. You can get a concussion or your neck snapped by any helmet to helmet hit.

The end of "The Wild Bunch" was more merciful than what Indiana did to Illinois tonight.

From national media types, there was a severe overreaction to Indiana's CFP loss last year. IU is a quality team and it is proving it again. Really not sure why Illinois was given more benefit of the doubt for the '25 season. This is a predictable market correction.

Convincing wins today for both teams I formerly covered today. They meet each other on Friday. Uneven playing field, but success is measured beyond wins and losses for both.

Do I miss game day? Sure. It was the best part of the job.

Do I miss having to sit through the duration of a body bag game? Nope. Watched the first two IU series against Kennesaw State and saw enough. Over to more competitive games.

Another IndyCar season in the books. Started dreadfully boring, but got better as it went along. Alex Palou was, of course, metronomic in his dominance. Hate how long the offseason is, but look forward to 2026.

Jarring that Missouri State is playing FBS football. For several of my years covering Valley football, they were the bottom feeder. For nearly all of my years covering Valley football, interest in football there was tepid at best.

Newcastle was missing dudes, but Leeds was too, including two of our best midfielders. Attacking by both teams was poor, but Leeds never looked over their heads. Will absolutely take a point against the barcodes.
