I'm taking a punt here but going with the guy who appointed someone nicknamed the "Prince of Darkness" claiming he had no idea that he was a wrong un' and they should all move on and support him regardless.
Oh for a time when PMs weren't spineless nerks and took responsibility for their actions.

A Labour MP tells The Houseโs Sienna Rodgers McSweeneyโs resignation will mean โfull speed ahead to uber-woke, net-zeroist, rejoinerismโ.
Which sounds good to me, but is also very telling of the beliefs of the faction McSweeney championed.

Labour's structural position is bad (terrible inheritance etc + unwillingness to grasp certain nettles) but has been hugely damaged by an obsession with winning over people who will never vote for them, based on a misread of the 2024 election

"It's been an honour working with Morgan McSweeney for many years," Keir Starmer says.
"He turned our party around after one of its worst ever defeats and played a central role running our election campaign. It is largely thanks to his dedication, loyalty and leadership that we won a landslide majority and have the chance to change the country.
"Having worked closely with Morgan in opposition and in government, I have seen every day his commitment to the Labour Party and to our country. Our party and I owe him a debt of gratitude, and I thank him for his service."
Right Prime Minister, this is an opportunity to dig us out of a hole for you appointing someone nicknamed "The Prince of Darkness", make it clear that you totally disavow McSweeney and blame him.
Gotcha.
How is Starmer so bad at this?

Yes! I was just discussing this with my autistic daughter recently: small talk is making friendly noises to humans.
We autistic people tend to get caught up in the content (do I answer honestly to โhow are you doing?โ etc.) and feel pressureโand viewing it instead as a script to be performed helps.

Olympic committee: New transgender policy consensus reached across sports
A proposed new consensus between sports leaders across the globe about gender policy would be a first uniform criteria.
Major problem the IOC face here is that banning trans athletes doesn't "protect" anyone. We have already seen GCs hound cis women athletes because they didn't look "feminine" enough. Not to mention how much evidence shows trans athletes don't have an advantage.
