UC Riverside identified a PTPN2 gene mutation in up to 20% of #IBD patients that disrupts iron absorption, explaining persistent #anemia despite oral supplements. This insight could shift treatment toward IV iron for better outcomes and highlights genetics’ role in IBD complications.
