Not to be confused with the Would Be's, who had that excellent jingly jangly 'Hardly Ever Wrong' single out in the early 90s.

Sternwood: Nasty things. Their flesh is too much like the flesh of men. Their perfume has the rotten sweetness of corruption.
Great compilation. Loved this band and pretty much everything Track & Field released - the 'Have You Seen The Light?' split single with Dressy Bessy is an all-timer for me!

Pleased to tick this Stetsasonic 45 off the wantlist this week. Possibly the best Sally song, apart from Lonnie Donegan's version of 'Sally Don't You Grieve' of course.

Rather taken with the new Lande Hekt LP, which is out today.

With secret track on the CD version, if I recall!

24.01.2026 19:58 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1I always loved how the author Geoff Dyer described a live recording of Coltrane's My Favourite Things as reaching "into the darkness of space before re-entering, everything burning up around him. The solo: a whole career on alto compressed into just 11 minutes."

"The technical ability must work on the inspiration. Technical skill alone can produce a flawless work but not true greatness. That comes from beyond."
I used to say this all the time when sat with friends listening to jazz records as a student.

Given you use them in a very specific and artistic way, I guess there's no way this will escalate to bar mats. I spent an undiscolsed fee on this recently. Looks great in the centre of the dining room table (the family disagree)

I know they were completely different, but I always used to get this lot confused with God Is My Co-pilot - both seemed to release an album a month and were always on Peel, when I wanted to hear more jungle.
10.01.2026 19:06 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The most important radio broadcast of the 00s (apart from the last Fall session for Peel)... Was initially disappointed when more dubstep and grime started to creep into the Breezeblock, displacing bigbeat and electroclash. But by the time this show aired, I was fully on board. What a show.
10.01.2026 18:44 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Great choice - for me, just pipped by Jon E Cash's Sublow (although, arguably, that's technically more of a compilation rather than a reissue).
Remember how hard it was attempting, and failing, to track down the CDr in the mid 00s!
Quite partial to the remix by Double 99 (of 'Ripgroove' fame) which had some airplay on Radio 1's various dance shows at the time.

Ash were surprisingly low - I thought that at the time, and still think it now.
I was obsessed with Dreadzone in 95 and was probably annoyed that their string of singles from Second Light weren't better represented.
