Adoption of Bill 2 will have a detrimental effect on Quebec’s health network The Canadian Medical Association (CMA) wishes to remind the Quebec government of the potential consequences of Bill 2, which was tabled and adopted by the Quebec National Assembly to end negotiations ...

The CMA is reminding the Quebec government that Bill 2 could worsen #AccessToCare and push more physicians out of the province. Quebec’s health system needs stability, dialogue and collaboration to support its professionals.

Here's the Ronald Reagan ad from Canada that Trump calls "fake."

It wasn't fake. It was edited. But Reagan really did spend a five-minute speech – an April 25, 1987, national radio address that the Reagan Library has published on YouTube – to rail against tariffs. It was a full-throated expression of support for free and fair trade.

A tweet from Melat Kiros for Congress reads: “I’m sure it’ll trickle down any day now.” It quotes John Fugelsang’s tweet, which says: “The average age of U.S. homebuyers is now 56, up from 49 last year. In 1981, the year trickle-down economics began, it was 31.”

It started with Reagan and has accelerated under Trump.

Canadians should be aware of what is happening on Trump's far right, if only to fully digest what it means when Canada's Poilievre, supported by almost every MapleMAGA, calls the RCMP "despicable" and vows to use the notwithstanding clause to overturn the Supreme Court and our constitution.

🚨 New essay!

Here's a rewrite of today's essay-length thread about contraceptive rights - why we should care & why we don't.

I wrote the thread before I'd had my decaf (or gotten out of bed) so it had some issues. Hopefully, it's better, now.

Thank you for ever sparing a few moments of your day - or many moments - to act for better and to fight for a fairer future for people living in NB. Breathing clean air is a right. We all deserve to breathe air that won’t sicken us, same as we deserve to drink clean water and eat safe food.

People have overwhelmingly moved on and even memory-holed Covid. But there was a time when provincial public health was on everyone’s minds, and their work and their comms affected us daily in a very big way. That power needs to come from facts and reality, not politics. I am so grateful to all.

We are only 4 years removed from the October when Higgs cancelled Thanksgiving at the last minute but told people they could eat in restaurants and the government opened a snitch line for ratting out your neighbours. If only that time and money went into clean air.

Not everyone who worked so hard to see this change got a happy ending. People’s health has deteriorated. People have lost jobs and friendships. Family connections. Having the courage to both see AND say “this is wrong, we deserve better” has a price. These changes don’t happen at all without us…

22.10.2025 21:27 — 👍 17    🔁 2    💬 1    📌 0

Make no mistake; many people in NB are still suffering thanks to intentional misdeeds by provincial public health 2020-2022 and beyond. We still don’t have clean air in schools. Hospitals still pretend COVID is not airborne. And there is no help for long COVID patients.

Back in 2021-2022 we had some very active people involved. Erica. Jessica. Cheryl. We also had the wonderful CBC hosts and reporters who worked really hard and listened, and tried their best. We had some great CTV journos working on stuff too. I really don’t think this change happens w/out them.

I don’t think that we see this version of NB without NB twitter. That world is gone now, and this place is less cohesive, and less goofy, but for the few who remain and will see this I want to say thanks. I want to say thanks to those who have moved on too, but were so instrumental in fighting.

Miscarriage Is Increasingly Dangerous for Women in Texas, Our Analysis Shows. Here’s How We Did It. Using seven years of hospital discharge data, we found that the number of blood transfusions during emergency room visits for first-trimester miscarriage shot up by 54% since Texas banned abortion.

Our analysis, which shows that more women nearly bled to death during miscarriage after Texas banned abortion, adds to a growing body of reporting revealing that maternal outcomes have gotten worse under bans.
