My spouse got a deep cut on their hand, and due to the location, stitches weren't possible, but a bandage wouldn't be flexible enough.

Honey in the wound, Dressing, then gauze. Change twice daily.

It healed AMAZINGLY. Looks like a thin line now.

But yeah, kinda weird admittedly.

Listen. I haven't done this, but my equally unhinged home remedy?

Raw honey for wounds.

Interior Contents of the IFAK laid out on the floor. There are two types of contents: those that came with the bag, and those added by this user. Included: Trauma dressing, 2x wound packing gauze, 2x nitrile gloves, Trauma sheers for cutting clothing, "hyfin" brand chest seals for gun shot wounds, a Tourniquet, an emergency blanket to prevent hypothermia, a sharpie to write time of Tourniquet application. Additions: Glucose, ibuprofen, Tylenol, excedrin, asprin, saline, benadryl, liquid bandage. All of these items fit in the IFAK bag.

Something very important to me is community defense. The trans community is stronger together, and we aren't going anywhere.

Not everyone can carry self defense tools. But EVERYONE can carry an IFAK! (Individual First Aid Kit)

Speaking of disaster! I also program mine with the National weather service and storm spotter frequencies. When the weather looks weird? I turn it on. Hearing storm spotters is much faster than listening to the radio, and honestly, I like watching the storm roll in.

I encourage you to pick one up. Pick up 2, or 3! Give them to your friends. Play with them. Find out the range in your area.

Build a network of people who can communicate in an emergency. So that when disaster strikes, you just have to turn it on.

The best part?

Baofeng radios are stupid cheap. We're talking $30 on Amazon. You can spend more for better versions. But to just get in the game, you're not spending hundreds.

These are so cheap, that HAM radio guys view these as disposable.

In an emergency, if your city/town is not using encrypted radio frequencies, this could be your way to contact EMS*

Or it could be a way to communicate during a protest.

*I AM NOT A LAWYER, LOOK UP THE LAWS REGARDING TRANSMITTING ON EMS FREQUENCIES, EVEN IN AN EMERGENCY*

There are many ways to utilize these! Road trip with 2 vehicles? Why interrupt GPS.

Hiking? You have an alternative to a SATphone, or your cell.

Blackout? You have a way to organize with your neighbors, friends, community members, etc.

In some places, they also can pick up local PD chatter.

The reason this is important!

If/when a disaster happens, cell towers may go down. Either due to power outages, physical damage, or sheer traffic (think trying to text someone right at midnight on new years)

Handheld radios are a great way to communicate, should things go "dark."

Hello everyone! So, preparedness is my JAM, and this, is a Baofeng radio.

These are handheld HAM radios. They operate on a wide range of frequencies (if unlocked), and can operate on rhe FRS frequencies, which, in the united states, are free to use as a civilian.

Just had whataburger for the first time in months after getting food poisoning from there, and honestly, they've gone down hill. Sad day for all Texans 🫡
