Angus King: "This initial strategy didn't work. And now we have one. We're gonna have a guaranteed vote on the ACA, and it may not succeed. I grant that. But a reasonable chance -- 10, 20, 30% -- is a lot better than 0% which is where we were."

This is not what people were mobilizing for on Oct 18.
Even the senators who are retiring and think they won't have to face the wrath of furious Democratic voters should know that their last name is about to become so toxic that not even a goddamn nonprofit is going to want you on the board.

The GOPβs Utah redistricting power-play might be its most egregious yet. Not because the most seats are at stake β only one is at stake in Utah. But because of the lengths it goes to put raw political advantage ahead of respect for the will of voters. www.democracydocket.com/analysis/thi...

Louisiana was basically like 'here come these Black people always asking for more' and Justice Jackson was like, 'that's not what the fuck they're asking for, they're saying: stop discriminating against us'
now the Court is spinning a giant wheel of racist excuses to kill off the Voting Rights Act
idk which one it'll land on, but they all have the same intended result: forcing people of color out of the political process, leaving a government by and for white people
ballsandstrikes.org/scotus/calla...
The Voting Rights Act has done more than perhaps any other statute to build a multiracial democracy
which is precisely why the Supreme Courtβs conservative justices have spent decades casting the law as constitutionally unsound
ballsandstrikes.org/scotus/calla...
my main takeaways from listening to the Supreme Court oral argument today are
-the writing is on the wall for the Voting Rights Act
-the Republican justices are now throwing racist spaghetti at that wall; they'll pass of whatever sticks as the opinion's rationale
ballsandstrikes.org/scotus/calla...
Is it racist to remedy racism? Thatβs the question at the heart of Callais v. Louisiana, which the Supreme Court heard on Wednesday. The case asks whether the Voting Rights Act gives Black Louisianans too much political powerβand if so, whether the landmark law violates the Constitution. Unsurprisingly, the Republican-appointed justices seem eager to rule that it does. Throughout oral arguments, they suggested the VRA protects minority voters too effectively, dragging the government into race-conscious considerations that offend the equal protection rights of the white voters who sued in this case. And they floated various ways to gut what remains of the statute by twisting it beyond recognition or striking it down altogether. The result would be a windfall for Republicans, who stand to gain at least 19 seats in the House of Representatives if the Supreme Court frees them to gerrymander Black communities into oblivion. Such a decision would also devastate minority representation in Congress, eliminating up to 30 percent of the Congressional Black Caucus.
The Supreme Court's Republican appointees sound ready to transform the 14th and 15th Amendments into a weapon against the very racial minorities they were meant to protectβhanding Republicans 15-19 additional House seats in the process. A disaster for democracy.

If the Democrats get back control of both chambers of Congress and the White House - restructuring this rogue far-right #SCOTUS needs to happen on day 1.

I am sounding the alarm that the GOP is engaged in an all out attack voting rights and free and fair elections. Voter suppression, gerrymandering, and troops in blue cities are just some of the ways they are using to try to rig the rules to keep power in 2026 and beyond.
Pay attention and act!
