Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar Press conference: Launch of Annual Report - 12 August 2025 Launch of IIMM’s Annual Report detailing its progress in investigating serious international crimes committed in Myanmar, including advances in identifying perpetrators.

Notable final question from @emmafarge.bsky.social. The IMM has a unit conducting open-source investigations, which has collected thousands of videos of suspected crimes. If additional grants are not secured, the IIMM will have to close this vital unit by end of year.

Human Rights Report Under Trump Blunts Language on Israel and El Salvador

"The collective report had been expected months ago, but was delayed as State Department officials worked under the orders of political appointees in the agency to cut language in the report."

Journalists need to stay focused on independent reports. Reports from the US Government are propaganda.

Important work indeed. And it's heartening that the IIMM shares their findings with international courts _proactively_.

This, on the other hand, is a major bummer:
"the Mechanism’s access to resources needed to investigate the crimes has significantly diminished..."
