This movie wears its heart on its sleeve with a brightly colored neon patch that reflects so much sunlight, moonlight, street lights, and headlights, they might as well be lasers illuminating the darkness of evil to cut through concept of cynicism itself.

People *will* look away.

My review for Superman that I wrote in a Discord group is... too unreasonably long to copy here.

I say this:

Beyond the nonsense, there *is* going to be a lot of people that simply do not nor will ever care enough about Superman to watch it... and nothing can be said or done to change their minds.

Took quite a bit of trial and error to get where the text and images looked good on both desktop *and* mobile versions... I do so love a challenge!

Until then, there's at least a half-dozen dino-documentaries that you can watch, or "Dinosaur Island". But there are kids in that, they are the main characters, and they are *annoying!*

If you are hung up on the dinosaurs not having feathers, then good news! "Primitive War" is coming out in August, and it has *feathered raptors!*

It is, however, restorative -- a template for episodic film adventures where humans and dinosaurs can conflict in different tropical settings around the world.

A *rebirth* for a Jurassic *World.*

Ronin Rating: 7.5/10 - Really Good

While this is (in my opinion) the best movie it could be for what it is, I would still not count it as a great movie. Really good, but not great. It lacks the transformative, impactful, and timeless qualities needed to be great.

Aside from one cringey scene (which I think will end up funnier on re-watch), I cannot think of a way to make this movie better.

If anything, what gets me the most is how often it actually subverted both my expectations and my trained reactions -- despite being so familiar with the tropes being used. It is not brilliant writing, but solid, and "solid" has been missing from this franchise for 32 years.

There are very few nods to the first movie, but that is just it: nods. Just visual ones, too. Over and done with. Totally flows with the context, not forced dramatic writing, just how the action turns out.

The humans are a VAST improvement over anything we've had. Everyone was competent, brave, cunning, or motivated -- even the family! I wanted them to survive! Yes, even the little girl, who acted like a little girl would and did not do stupid annoying shit. I even loved her pet Protoceratops.

The mutants are not given the same treatment as the dinosaurs: they do not act like animals, but anomalies within this new setting. The Distortus Rex has less screen time than you would think, and the Mutadons are, as advertised, the raptors of this film -- and I would not mind them returning!

The dinosaurs are also responsible for some of the worst deaths since the first movie, and more hands-over-mouth anxiety than any of them.

Most importantly, there is no "nemesis beast" that hunts down the group throughout the entire movie -- not even the mutated monsters!

I could only hope to be loved like those two titanosaurs did each other.

Best depiction of dinosaurs and other prehistoric reptiles behaving like actual animals in the franchise thus far. I nearly cried when they re-did the classic Brachiosaur scene -- not because of nostalgia, but how utterly beautiful and loving the movie made them look.

"Jurassic World: Rebirth"

Easily the second-best "Jurassic Park" film ever. So good that it made me want an annoying character to survive *in the same scene they were introduced in.*

It's a new day, yes it is!

It has exposed me to a different class of despicable people, who truly tested my emotional resilience and maturity...

... the fact that I am no longer crying myself to sleep at night is proof of how far I have come from since my worst heartbreak.

I have a new job where I get to flex my technical muscles, mentor the next generation, and do the work no one wants to, but needs to be done... and paid well enough that I get to live as I do and support my own creative endeavors.

I have a new story.

It feels fresh, new, a reflection of myself and my interests.

Took me forever to get there, but I have... and now I have a place that's ready for me to make it.

I am finally ready to tell the story I've wanted to for decades.
