I miss Kyoto already.

Going to Kyoto for a book talk event. It’s been so long since the last ride on Thunderbird that I almost forgot how much I liked looking at the sceneries through the big window on Thunderbird.

I don’t know what advice to give to graduate students who don’t work part-time and socialize with other students while complaining how their poor financial conditions take away their attention from research and how they don’t have friends.

This weekend, I’ll be charing a panel “Texts in Arts: Politics, Society, and the City in Colonial and Contemporary Taiwan” at ASCJ at Sophia University.

Why do I always find interesting previous studies a few days before the conference presentation? Getting ready for SCMS2025, but not ready yet at all.

金沢生活4年5ヶ月目。能登半島地震から1年1ヶ月が経ちました。ムフフ校務が本格化しますが、原稿1本と本の原稿、学会準備に力を入れます。エヴァ2号機のプラモデルとミニ四駆、宅トレ用シューズを買いたい。今月は『ユリイカ』自炊特集にも寄稿予定です。映画もゲームも楽しみたい。

自炊の論考、締め切りまで3日に迫ってまだ何も大したものを書けていない。

『366日』は驚くほど面白くなかったです。物語の時間軸をごちゃごちゃいじることで、話がとてものっぺりして深みがない。もともと顔色の悪そうに見える上白石萌歌に体調悪いメイク施してもあまり大した視覚的効果が生まれないことを学んだ。

ジークアクスって英語で書くとこんな表記なんや。おもろいな。『366日』とセットで観に行きますねん。

I’m writing an introductory book to queer cinema for middle and high school students. Yesterday I had a chance to share the draft with my colleague at a bi-weekly tea party aka writing session. She asked me why I’m writing about “cinema” in this age. Why cinema? What a hard question.
