And a note to all authors in #consgen and #evolution: REPORT your standard errors, variance or confidence intervals in the papers for every summary stat that you provide!
In the meta-analyses we had to skip thousands of papers for this reason.

Gene pools are getting dangerously shallow for many species. We found 5 ways to help
Genetic diversity is being lost across many species β especially birds and mammals. But you can help stop the decline.
Itβs not all doom and gloom! We show in @nature.com that genetic diversity is in decline, but in @theconversation.com we dive into five strategies to help maintain or restore biodiversity @robynshaw.bsky.social @katefarquharson.bsky.social

Wide range of Earthβs species are showing a decline in diversity
The loss of genetic variation means species may be less resilient to climate change and other stressors
Congratulations to @robynshaw.bsky.social, @cegrueber.bsky.social, and too many other friends to list here on this important paper in @nature.com on the global extent of genetic diversity loss. It was a pleasure discussing it w/ Elizabeth Pennisi from @science.org.

Human activities such as land use change, introduced disease, harvesting and harassment are negatively impacting genetic diversity within species. However, conservation management actions such as supplementation show promise in maintaining or even increasing genetic diversity.

We reviewed over 30 years of published literature and identified studies from 141 countries representing all terrestrial and most marine realms, including 628 species from 37 classes across 16 phyla to provide a field-wide view of how genetic diversity change is measured.
