Evason also said to expect the goalie who doesn’t start Thursday to start Saturday in Minnesota.

Marchenko didn’t practice with the full team today. He was taking care of a “personal” issue, according to #CBJ Dean Evason.

Marchenko expected to return to his usual role at practice Wednesday.

The #CBJ are celebrating their 25th anniversary, which is a big deal inside the "bubble" of Central Ohio. Outside the bubble, the Jackets exists as one of the most anonymous professional teams in North America.

Fedotov, who cleared NHL waivers last week, loaned to AHL Cleveland, leaving #CBJ with the expected tandem of Merzlikins and Greaves in net to start the season.

Fedotov put up excellent numbers in limited preseason ice time, but the plan all along was for him to be third on the depth chart etc.

I don't have ESPN+ right now, as a result of canceling Disney+ in the wake of the FCC's censorship BS. It'd be nice if they provided a streaming option that was functional, but it is what it is.

Second time in as many games Damon Severson has been the "1" in a 2-on-1 rush for the opposing team.

Both led to goals vs #ALLCAPS ... the first when he backslid and had the puck deflect past Greaves off a pass attempt. No back slide this time and Dubois beats Merzlikins with a shot.

2-on-1 for Wilson and Dubois, and that's pretty much an assured goal ... which the latter converts against Merzlikins to make it 2-0 #ALLCAPS in the second.

#CBJ top defense pairing (Christiansen-Fabbro) and third forward group (Johnson-Coyle-Olivier) on the ice for Chisholm's goal to put the Capitals up 1-0 early second in D.C.

Jackets on a PP now though.

Merzlikins was beaten clean on Chisholm's wrister from the slot, but it was taken from a high-danger area, quickly, off a nice pass from Miroshnichenko.

ICYMI Friday, D Daemon Hunt was claimed by the Wild off waivers from the #CBJ after sending him to Columbus last season, along with a raft of draft picks, for David Jiricek.

So, that trade now was just Jiricek for a raft of draft picks. Interesting.

Be advised … if you like charitable hockey events, this is a good one. Proceeds benefit the John and Matthew Gaudreau Foundation.

The starter for the season opener next week in Nashville is still TBD.

Fedotov not here. He’s already cleared waivers, so he’s likely headed to Cleveland, where Hunt, who’s currently on waivers, is headed if he clears.

Talked to Provorov and Monahan about the #CBJ victory song in the room. They apparently had two last season, but I only remember Abba’s “Gimme, Gimme, Gimme.”

Monahan said the veteran group got together Thursday to choose a new one, which they didn’t reveal. Monahan said it’s dance worthy though.

Cole Sillinger is practicing today after leaving early Thursday with an apparent hand issue.

As somebody who covered the “Bartman” game in 2003, gotta say … that was weird hearing, “Five outs to go,” with the Cubs once again up 3-0 at Wrigley Field.

Ground ball to SS too, but no foul fly down the left field line. Maybe the Cosmos is self-correcting since the Cubs won in 2016?
