The newer "ER-EV" ones seem like a great middle ground. Completely EV drivetrain but a gas generator for the battery on board to give it long range + capability to work on gas. You'd probably still want to plug it in if you can but it doesn't completely rely on charge infrastructure to work.

Re adobe: I'm reminded of how in archviz a Chinese company showed up on the scene all of a sudden and released D5, a renderer that smokes the lazy incumbent competition (and continues to update with useful features unlike competitors) for much cheaper. Adobe is just begging for a similar disruption.

Don't know enough about it to comment further, but does seem like it's working fine in places that do this already - eg: the power plan I'm on comes from entirely renewables (ava community energy)

It is my understanding that's where infrastructure batteries come into play

This reminds me of someone I know who recently also lost their spouse to a DUIer, in a nearby area too. They were such a happy perfect couple and just like that, gone. Such a preventable tragedy, such a selfish way to go.

Absolutely sickened that this was caused by a DUI from someone else. Wish this country took them way, way more seriously like other countries do. :( deepest condolences to all...

Blows my mind that we have a century of pop culture stories that in very clear terms warned against exactly this hubris and yet not only are people happily completely missing the point of these tales but they're naming their companies based on the obvious bad guys.
