I still do not understand what nvidia does. why is l’oreal in an β€œai” partnership with a chip designer/manufacturer instead of one of the actual ai companies?

It's Official: the Cybertruck is More Explosive than the Ford Pinto - FuelArc News We now have a full year of data for the Cybertruck, and a strange preponderance of headlines about Cybertrucks exploding into flames, including several fatalities. That’s more than enough data to comp...

The Ford Pinto had a death rate of 85 people for 10 million cars sold. The Cybertruck hasn't sold 10 million, but the fatality rate so far maths out to 1,452 people killed per 10 million sold.

The Cybertruck may be the deadliest road car, for the occupants, ever sold.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani is again flooding the airwaves and social media with snappy videos of himself in a custom Carhartt jacket, warning New Yorkers to stay safe. He is again holding news conferences at the city’s emergency operations headquarters, surrounded by top aides in outerwear bearing agency emblems. And he is again at the helm of a government operation that, by virtue of its complexity and general unwieldiness, can lend itself to people falling through the cracks.

The tone of contempt here, in a news update, is disgraceful. "How dare Mamdani and his team...uh...wear those clothes and use social media to try to prevent bad things from happening when...um...bad things could still happen in a situation like this!" GTFO.

The fact that people are saying this disabled black woman 'put her disability over being black' tells you all you need to know about where they're coming from.

Iran has apparently been just hours away from The Bomb for nearly 40 years. Sadly Iran should get the bomb, if that's the only thing that stops this madness. I'm convinced they never sought the bomb, and it's just a pretext for constant antagonism: which is why Obama's deal was so anathema for them.

β€œI have a work permit. I'm doing things correctly. Even so, l am trapped here. Not because I'm running from the law, but because I've seen how the system often doesn't even respect its own laws, deporting people who are in active legal processes and keeping entire families living in fear.”

In case people have missed it, Josh Simons is the person currently tasked with pushing the Digital ID programme.

Just in case you were assuming it’s a benign idea without creepy and concerning implications.

Keir Starmer's pal, Peter Mandelson, has been arrested.

Mandelson - the warmongering, self-declared Thatcherite, twice disgraced for corruption when Government Minister, and close personal friend of Jeffrey Epstein.

Starmer and Wes Streeting should resign for protecting this guy to the bitter end.

Another example of why our highest court shouldn't have the lowest ethics standards. As our @hannahstoryb.bsky.social has covered in @prospect.org, Justice Alito's extensive oil holdings should have propelled him to sit out from considering this case. And he's not the only justice with such ties.

To everyone who's been asking: yes, I'm aware of this. Yes, I try to pass all of your words of support and care along to Kara whenever I can.

Unfortunately she has been without phone and email privileges for a few weeks.

Her lawyers have tried to get in touch with her and will update me.

We've had questions from three broadcasters so far, and they have all been about the practicalities and costs. None has asked about the legal/moral issue of retrospectively changing laws so huge numbers of people who have made their lives in the UK will be expelled.

Remember how I said that the problem is not Yer Da on Facebook: the problem is elite radicalisation, the political and media class driving themselves and each other insane? Reform is talking here about mass deportation.

So I understand why stores aren't going to change their supply chain every weather forecast and how it means they just sell what they have and call it a day.

I asked our manager why we couldn't get some shipped from say, the Midwest that didn't need them, because we knew the storm was coming days in advance. The answer is "how many storms fizzle out from an area that far in advance?"

The second thing is that large corporation logistics just don't work that way. The article touches on it a little, but even pre AI, like, they couldn't just get stuff. We had a hurricane brush us once and we sold out of what few generators quickly...

bsky.app/profile/bobm... from the replies notes this as well. If you go in there, you're way more likely to see some gardening stuff than snow removal. Triply so if you're in say, the mid Atlantic states where average high temp these days pushes 50.

As someone that worked for HD, honestly this isn't anything new. For starters, it's nearing the end of winter, and the odds of major snow decrease, so they don't stock as much. Every year, we would run out of air conditioners in August and salt/shovels near the end of January
