I called and talked about how the state cops joined ICE in brutalizing protesters today.

ICE just blatantly violated the law and arrested sitting Chicago Alderperson Jessie Fuentes while seeking to illegally arrest a patient in a hospital. Fuck these fascists.

Totally agreed! We need to build out energy and capacity before Presidential campaign gears up, and this is our entry into the ring to do that, but it’s certainly round 1.

having a vision IS the fight against authoritarianism, and I am terrified that Dem leadership failing to realize that will guarantee our loss.

totally agree—we focused on things that are not currently front and center of existing Dem debates (ie M4A) and doable through congressional action alone. affordable housing will require a lot more and may be easiest to push in a state-level platform we’d love to write soon:)

because we think the demands are American ideals but also recognize there are a lot of people cheering ICE disappearances that will not be making them

We all have a responsibility in this moment not to amplify the DHS narrative of events, and racing to publish incomplete info just so there's "something" out isn't actually in service of anyone

It certainly appears the United States murdered an innocent fisherman who was a husband and father to four children, claimed he was a "narco-terrorist," posted a video of the execution, and then made jokes about it

as an author of a book on reparations I am intimately familiar with the move people make from "the thing you want isn't politically viable right now" to "you shouldn't want it, talk about wanting it, or even think about it" but it never stops being weird to me

ICE just chased everyone off the public road by the Broadview facility. They yelled for people to move and immediately began firing gas into the crowd, which included legal observers, press, and medics.
