Well you all know I love my historic ships. These two are special. Haida is close to my home and lots of Flower Class built in Ontario. Thanks Ian.

The Atlantic has updated their article to correct some of Frum's mistakes. However they didn't correct his denialist stuff. I work 50 meters from a lab where they recently identified a body recovered from a GPR search. A child who died at residential school, and was finally returned to their family.

If I assign students a reading from Proquest Ebook Central via my university library, they immediately see an AI "Research assistant" that offers a 1-paragraph summary of the 15-pp chapter, plus "key takeaways" & "concepts."
There's even a handy "copy" button to past that info into your paper!

There are no surprises with the Charter - we know what it says, and we know the political work it has done justifying colonialism and imperialism. I want to know about the other material on the auction block, and there is still no public catalogue.

NEW from me - NSF cancels grant scheme for social science research.
Seems the NSF quietly archived ALL calls for DDRIG grants in the SBE directorate. This is a massive blow for PhD students wanting to do cutting-edge social science research. πΊπ§ͺ
The NSF Bio Anthro Program DDRIG, Cultural Anthrpology DDRIG, and Archaeology DDRIG have all been archived (as of yesterday afternoon). Please speak with your grad students and plan accordingly. To say I am angry and depressed about this is an understatement.
