Also, the HBO shows have always been praised more than the Showtime shows.

For me, I put deadwood ahead of sopranos and breaking bad and maybe even the wire. But that’s my aesthetic preferences, even living so close to Baltimore.

As I said the other day, a 13 episode HBO show will not have the filler or clunkers of a 26 episode network TV show.

I think short season model is better. A lot of older US shows had a few clunkers every season which you understand due to volume.

22to26 used to be network standard.

Helps there are only six episodes. (Which I realize is less of an issue for UK folks used to short seasons/series.)
