unfortunately quite a few American politicians do in fact use 4chan or were very clearly former users, given it's not uncommon among "dark enlightenment" neo-reactionary types or fascists (open or closeted)

calling kiwifarms "thriving" is a stretch and a half. reddit thrives mostly because of external circumstances which have made it a search nexus + having very siloed subcommunities. if you think 4chan isn't like 60% state-sponsored burnouts, bots, and people chattering to themselves you're naïve.

dudette, it is a platform almost entirely comprised of robots and grifters which barely serves the functions that drew people to it; it is not an unyielding fixture of some sort of immortal internet landscape. and it doesn't need to be deleted outright to die; myspace is a zombie, for example.

it's a centralized website run by morons. it is an intrinsically ephemeral object.

twitter is fundamentally badly designed in ways that incentivized this toxicity for years and now it is owned by a junkie lunatic who unironically huffs Yarvin and Thiel's ass fumes. it doesn't need anything except to die. humanity does not need to fix one specific dogshit platform.

a lot of people do not think about AI, technology in general, or possibly anything at all critically enough to put together how immediately suspicious or unhelpful that sort of attitude is, and people who aren't savvy or paying attention are easy to get hooked on sycophantic dopamine hits.
