25.07.2025 11:35 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1It has been done Wil, but it was right at the beginning. Issue 6 or something. Need a revisit for sure
02.07.2025 11:59 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Could also be an early Atlantis title, but nothing seems to match there
23.06.2025 14:29 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Trying to suss out your Speccy game collection. I can see Combat Lynx (big box), View to a Kill, an Imagine Ocean-era release (Yie Ar Kung-Fu?), Zoids, and what looks like four from Creative Sparks (Orc Attack, Danger Mouse, and a couple of other I can't make out)
23.06.2025 10:42 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Bit of a treasure trove that DVD Nick! Some lovely Nintendo character art on there, plus Miyamoto wielding a plastic sword and shield to reveal Twilight Princess! But the highlight has to be show floor photos from E3 and TGS 2004. Amazing

16.04.2025 22:04 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Britsoftโs finest Rare was incorporated as a company on this date 40 years ago. According to the doc on Companies House, it was called Chameleon, then The Stamper Group, before they finally settled on Rare. Here is the firmโs very first logo.

25.03.2025 12:49 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Did you know that Stephen Kingโs novella The Mist inspired Half-Life? You did? But did you know that there was an actual computer game based on The Mist, released in 1985? I wrote about it for a magazine article published a few years back, which you can read online.

A press photograph supplied by Sony in 2000, showing the PlayStation 2 standing vertically, with the blue vertical stand attached. A blue disc is in the console's open disc tray. A control pad and memory card are also shown.
The PlayStation 2 is 25 years old today! Sony's highly anticipated second system launched on 4th March 2000 in Japan, and eventually became the best-selling home console of all time. Retro Gamer 270 will be available next week, and we'll be celebrating the PS2 and its fantastic library of games.
04.03.2025 12:05 โ ๐ 76 ๐ 20 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 5There's a old interview with Don here where he says Dictator is his own personal favourite worldofspectrum.net/interviews/P...
26.02.2025 13:27 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0He got into games relatively late, having started out as a teacher. In the 1980s, when in his 40s, he programmed around 20 titles for the ZX81 and Spectrum. In 1989 he quit the industry and returned to teaching, believing the days of the lone programmer to be over.
26.02.2025 13:21 โ ๐ 8 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0His cartoon-style games came about because the licensor insisted that Popeye must look like Popeye - pipe, anchor tattoo, the lot. To fulfil this, the characters needed to be sufficiently large to include all this detail. Somehow he made it work. This would become his signature style.
26.02.2025 13:17 โ ๐ 9 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Sad news: programmer Don Priestley, best known for his cartoon-style games like Trap Door and Popeye, passed away late last year after a short illness. One of Donโs friends shared the news on a Facebook comment. RIP Don (1940-2024), your games shine on.

As PlayStation turns 30 today, let's remind ourselves of this bold prediction by C&VG in 1992.
We may laugh, but the mag was talking about an early prototype PlayStation. Still, it's clear to see that NO-ONE saw Sony coming #PlayStation
