I remember arriving in the UAE for the first time in National Day week of 2008. Bit tired, bit fed up with life, hopeful of a break. And here I am in National Day week 17 years later (surprising) watching both of my kids in their school performance (more surprising). It’s been a ride and then some.

Ash are one of those bands that make me feel old. I remember reading about these middle aged men when they were doing gigs in between A levels. See also Garbage doing a final US tour after THIRTY YEARS. What 😂

Every year at our kid’s school we meet more new families who’ve left the UK because they couldn’t make it work anymore.
