Derry City resigned from the Irish League at the height of the Troubles, as other sides didn't want to travel to the Bogside

The club was stuck in junior (amateur) football until 1984, when a new plan was launched to get the Candystripes playing south of the border

‘Hajduk’ is the Croatian word for bandit or outlaw.

‘Tory’ is the Irish word for outlaw and was used centuries ago as a nickname that stuck with the Conservatives

Always good to have these little nuggets for moments such as this

It’s an essential part of any groundhopper’s toolkit
