And that they were prepared to sacrifice an undetermined number of people on the altar of the “economy”. (As long as they & their friends were still alive to reap the benefits, of course).

We must never forget: it wasn’t just the kooky Great Barrington Declaration dudes who promoted RFK Jr & his anti-vaxx BS—it was also some magazines, like The New Yorker, which celebrated him as a “maverick” who would take on “the establishment”

The entire administrative system of the empire continued - as a way of running cities, with the same job titles very often, converted into explicitly Christian roles. Vicars, deacons, dioceses - all part of secular administration originally. As were basilicas - the ‘king house’ or town hall.
