Landscape format in acrylics on canvas. Sunny day. Hay field of pale yellows loosely painted in lines, with round bales scatted, dark orange on shadow end, hot pale yellow the other end, lilac and purple on the curved shadow side, casting very dark shadows. Behind is a dark hedgerow running horizontally across the middle of the picture, and at an entrance to another yellow field behind, a large tree in full green foliage with a few small sky holes. Low hills on the left of green and purple and trees extend to horizon where a pale blue peaked mountain sits on the left side beside a lower peaked mountain. Sky is a paler blue with a small amount of white misty cloud mostly in upper right. Signed bottom right in dark blue, Liam Daly

An Irish #painting. "Kilkenny Field" came out of a day where much of it was spent cycling along by the River Barrow. There was sunshine. There was scenery. There was happiness. #art #SpeirGhorm

Got me work done, so I'll be there 8:45ish, there's an Ireland Rugby match on which will make this interesting ๐Ÿคฃ Coliemore will be even louder than Club. If Dalkeys least busy pub, Queens, still exists it might be our best option for chats! Let's see how club is though!

Landscape format in acrylics on canvas. A sunny summer day's view along an inlet or river, to a small town with hills behind. The sky is pale blue with a tinge of teal, a lone whisked light cloud sits in the centre. The hills are brown with wine and green tinges, and bold shadows of deep blue. The town is a collection of simplified soft blocks, most two-stories high, with a white tower at the right end. They have dark roofs, and are mostly grey with a warm yellow one near either end, and a bold green one in the centre. The town forms a central horizontal band. The water is blues and purples, stylized with graphic horizontal shapes, and the land on the right mid-ground is similarly stylised with pale green grass, yellow and darker green bushes, and orange and purple bank. A #painting from a couple of years ago of the southwest of Ireland. "Sneem II" was started twenty years earlier and worked on every year until I was finally happy that I'd captured my first experience of the County Kerry town. Which was a great one by the way. #art #SpeirGhorm

Landscape format in acrylics. Against a painterly turquoise background is the head and shoulders of a cow, facing right with its head turned a little towards the viewer but not so much that we see the eye on the other side. Rendered in pale purples, lilacs, and creams and grey-greens with underlying strokes of pink and orange and some details in teal and alizarin, he's a shaggy beast with an electric edge of white and yellow where his hair is backlit along all edges including tufts on the top of his head, fine hairs from his chin, and all around his far ear. Along the right half of the bottom edge, some of its lower shoulder is in shadow of dark blue with lighter straggles hanging down over it and some purple drips deliberately running down into it. Pink inside the far backlit ear, and dark blue inside the near shadow side ear. Darker pink with grey surrounds the dark nostrils, and the eye is a bold very dark pointed oval with a touch of light and an alizarin top edge. Hair on the face down the centre curves one way or the other, almost swirling in the centre. Signed bottom right in dark blue, Liam Daly.

A panorama sketchbook is opened with a colour sketch across both pages making an extra-long panorama. Paper is rag cotton with deckled edges. Sketch is done using black ink line in various fineliners, water based media of vivival color sheets and viviva pan set, inktense coloured pencils, white gel pen, posca pens, Liquitex acrylic paint markers, Faber Castell grey brush pens, and Derwent paint pens. View across a large square at a line of buildings mostly narrow and 5 or 6 stories high, though a wide orange one on the right half is just 3 stories high. Most of its windows have some form of green shutters or cloth coverings, and the large ones have balconies. At street level it has shops and many bicycles are locked in stands outside. Adjoining it on the right is a tall pink building, 3 window bays wide and darker at street level. A green building to its right is obscured by green foliage on the right edge of the sketch. The other apartment buildings to the left are mostly creams and yellows, some with long balconies across all three windows of each story, and others with isolated balconies. Those buildings gradually go behind a large building in the square dominating the left half - that of an old market with a modern metal black covering of various planes sloping and arching. In front of the market are two large yellow umbrellas over people eating at a cafe or restaurant. The leftmost building behind the market is a glass tower of narrow blue and green windows. The sky is a bright blue, matching the blue of a metal square kiosk in the centre behind which is a gap in the buildings as there is a street leading to the square there.

Square format in acrylics on canvas. View from a height at, in the foreground, the ruined remains of an abbey and dominating the picture a stone 12th century Round Tower rendered mostly in warm tones with the right side being dark in shadow and the left side in sunlight having pale grey blue stones and some pink and red dotted among the earthen tones as it moves around to the dark brown and blue at the right side. Its pointed top reaches almost the top of the painting. Around its base are scattered headstones of a cemetery in various greys with some round green bushes. Just in front along the bottom edge is pale yellow-green grass, because the view is from across the road in a field which is higher than the graveyard. Behind the tower we see down onto the crescent-shaped strand stretching away to halfway up the painting where it bends right receiving the blues of the sea coming in from the right. Near the back of the beach is a broken line of pink, perhaps of seaweed at a tide line. Behind the beach at the left edge is a caravan park with dozens of mostly pale caravans in rows. Along the horizon, a third of the way down from the top edge and up past the beach are gentle hills of green patchwork fields, dotted with pale houses at the bottom closest to Ardmore and with a tree line along much of the distant top extending to the right over a headland which has violet and grey cliffs at the right edge. The sky is a very pale aqua blue. Signed top left, Liam Daly

A #painting from Ireland's south coast. "Ardmore" is an exalted place for me, not because of the Round Tower, but because when I was small I stayed in a caravan and every day you'd jump over the dunes to the beach after first eating a bowl of Puffa Puffa Rice. #ArtYear #SpeirGhorm #TidesOutTuesday

Landscape format in very loose painterly acrylics on unstretched canvas. Under a teal sky on a sunny day we look across a harbour back in at a town from a pier. The town is two rows of buildings running in a band across the painting, the far one virtually on top of the slightly nearer one. Buildings are narrow and three or four stories high in bright pastel colours of mainly orange, pink, yellow, white, cream and green, with window and door details in incomplete sketchy white lines around dark suggestive shapes. Roofs are slate rendered in dark blue, many with dormer windows. A band of a green grass bank drops from the street down to the harbour where a grey-blue harbour wall curves around the water of light blue rippling away from its centre with dark blue and, in the foreground, red strokes. About two dozen small boats are in the harbour, mostly in the centre. While white dominates they are in variations of white with dark blue, orange, light blue and red, with several suggestions of masts and ropes. Signed top left in dark blue: Liam Daly

Landscape format in acrylics on canvas. View down fish-eyed retail street of, on both sides leaning in, deep orange 4-story buildings with grey details and black windows, at the red needle-like Spire in the centre rising up almost to the top of the painting, against the yellow sky with a hint of green. Street surface is orange with grey details. Grey details of upper stories on right hand side is a lighter grey than the details of upper stories on left hand side, and the orange is also lighter on the right, because that is the side receiving the sun. Corner of GPO and opposite corner of Henry St and O'Connell St, are behind Spire either side of it at the bottom centre. Side profile of a little boat on wheels, blue on the underneath parts and red all over everywhere else including the little wheelhouse. There are ropes, there are rails, there are panels, there is rust, there is a lot of aged peeling paint. There is some deliberate paint splatters underneath around the shadow. Boat is facing right resting on a rusted metal frame with two wheels close together visible on viewer side. There is no sky, with the background left white. Signed bottom right, Liam Daly

Landscape format in acrylics on canvas. In the foreground a grey horse is standing facing the viewer over the top of a dry stone wall at the bottom of a small hill. The horse's right side is in dark shadow and its left side in bright sunlight. Behind it is a rough lumpy scraggy small field rendered in ochre, green and touches of muted red, which rises up to where sitting at the top is a traditional white thatched cottage, its gable end on the left a brilliant white, and its front in soft blue shadow. The right end of the cottage is obscured by the body of the horse. The right edge of the field has a thick row of bushes and at the top of the field to the left of the cottage are two isolated green bushes. There is a slightly worn track in the grass to the left of the horse up to the cottage. The sky, which occupies the top half of the painting, is a dramatic combination of a light painterly teal with a massive bold purple smokey cloud coming in from the left edge from the top to the bottom of the sky. Only the tops of the craggy grey stones along the top of the wall are visible along the bottom of the painting, and more so towards the right directly in front of the horse. Landscape format in acrylics on mat board. Foreground dark and rocky, sunlight picking out olive green strands and spots of pink heather. Beyond, an inlet of turquoise and teal stretches full width of picture, wider on right. Behind it a pale green headland, dotted with pink and blue, also goes fully across, rocky along water's edge, and lower so narrower on the right, with a cottage perched on top halfway along. Behind is another smaller triangle of blue inlet, and beyond that a green and purple headland with a line of about 8 cottages with purple or maroon roofs and a golden sunshine colour on many of the gables or one side. Two purple flat-ish hills are behind that, one toward either edge of the painting, with a pale blue ridge-topped mountain in the gap between, all under a painterly yellow sky. Landscape format in acrylics. Orange grassy foreground is the bottom half of the painting with six small boats, two with wheelhouses - a red and brown one facing left at the water's edge on the left, and a pale blue and white one on the right close to the water facing the viewer. Between them closer to viewer are a red boat with black trim and a white boat with brown trim. In front of those are two more, both black with blue trim, the one on the left is upturned. The one on the right has a thin red line below the blue trim, and immediately behind it is a small upturned white boat. On the right edge is ochre coloured sand with the outlines of rocks and stones. The left third of the orange foreground shows long tufts of grass through texture and hints of green showing through. Beyond the orange foreground is a band across the painting of a rich blue violet body of water and on the far distant side a narrow yellow and green strip with dots of white cottages scattered along. Behind them are receding steep mountains in fading shades of blue against a white and pale yellow sky under a picture-wide strip of dark blue cloud with an almost straight bottom edge.
