Opinion | New documentary shows Andrew Young's singular role in MLK's circle The 93-year-old Young had a role in Martin Luther King Jr.'s inner circle that was different than everybody else’s, but no less necessary.

“’Twas grace hath brought me safe thus far... and grace will lead me home...”

Federal officers detain, tackle moped driver amid Trump D.C. police crackdown Six agents wearing police vests without clear identification of their agencies detained a man they later identified as a Venezuelan national in Northwest Washington.

"Witnesses — including the Post reporter — asked the officers to identify themselves numerous times. All but one, who was wearing the ICE badge, refused.

“Oh, are you guys the cops?” one agent, who was wearing a mask, responded. “Then shut the f--- up.”

“Emergency” is a word w/meaning that should be justified by facts.

FBI data suggests that Memphis, Cleveland,Toledo & Little Rock have higher crime rates.

The media would do well to interrogate the basis for the exercise of emergency powers rather than “residents say crime really is bad” stories.

Law firms that appeased Trump confront the consequences of their misjudgment Law firms that gave into the White House’s demands thought they were making a wise business decision. They’re now learning otherwise.

"The underlying point isn’t to chastise the firms for making the wrong decision; it’s to remind those firms that it’s not too late to reverse course and join the ranks of the firms resisting Trump’s gambit..."

There is an impulse in moments like this to appeal to self-interest. To say: These horrors you are allowing to happen, they will come to your doorstep one day; to repeat the famous phrase about who they came for first and who they'll come for next. But this appeal cannot, in matter of fact, work. If the people well served by a system that condones such butchery ever truly believed the same butchery could one day be inflicted on them, they'd tear the system down tomorrow. And anyway, by the time such a thing happens, the rest of us will already be dead.
No, there is no terrible thing coming for you in some distant future, but know that a terrible thing is happening to you now. You are being asked to kill off a part of you that would otherwise scream in opposition to injustice. You are being asked to dismantle the machinery of a functioning conscience.
Who cares if diplomatic expediency prefers you shrug away the sight of dismembered children? Who cares if great distance from the bloodstained middle allows obliviousness. Forget pity, forget even the dead if you must, but at least fight against the theft of your soul.

One of many moments in Omar El Akkad’s new book, “One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This,” that will stop you in your tracks.

This should chill everyone in this country to the bone. All she did was write an OpEd the administration didn’t like. This is fascistic suppression of free speech.

A very old Soviet joke, from an especially dark time:

Foxes are fleeing the USSR in droves.
Q: Why are you running away?
Fox: The Soviets passed a new law that they’re going to arrest all camels.
Q: But you’re foxes!
Fox: Yeah, why don’t *you* try proving to the NKVD that you’re not a camel.

Really feel like I’m losing my mind: government OBVIOUSLY cannot punish an individual law firm for hiring someone it disfavors! It’s ludicrously unconstitutional and I feel like without a day of law school I could argue the case. And yet the best paid lawyers in the country are folding?
