Me, but with writingโฆ
16.08.2025 03:53 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Another part, I think, is collateral damage. If you mock someone for their height, any innocent bystander who has that attribute in common with the target gets mocked to. Unintentionally, sure, but it still hurts.
31.07.2025 03:58 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Iโve always felt uncomfortable when people start joking or making fun about bad peopleโs appearance, bodies or other such things. Instead of condemning the act, they end up going โlol fatโ or โlol bald.โ Youโve put a part of why I find it so disconcerting into words very well.
31.07.2025 03:58 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Wait, is this like a thing that is out?! If so, where is it? Iโd love to see more!

I donโt often get to visit the sea, which only makes the times I do more special.

A photograph of the sunset over the ocean. Anchored boats are visible, as is an island to the left and a pier to the right.

Mine, and mine alone, to do with what I wish.
Perhaps that is enough.

This body is mine, even if it sometimes, (maybe more than sometimes) doesnโt feel like it. And though biology might stand against me every day, in some small way I can assert myself over it. The hair may grow back, but I have sharp steel to cut it away, and the will to do so.

But on the other hand there is something about it that I do like. The simple routine, the ritual of it all, and the way that it feels as though I am taking some level of control.

Some random ramblingsโฆ
There is something about shaving. On one hand, I donโt like it. The effort. The mixed results. The fact that it still feels like a thing only guys do. The quiet background hum of dysphoria even when I only have a bit of stubble.

Anyone have tips on finding queer/trans friendly spaces? Iโm traveling right now and would love to find a cafe I can chill and do some work in that feels safe and inclusive.

10.06.2025 16:06 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A richly illustrated infographic titled โOperating & Future Science Fleetโ shows a detailed map of NASAโs space science missions across the solar system. The image is split into regions: Earth, the Moon, the Sun, and outer planets. Each mission is labeled and color-coded by discipline: green for Earth science, yellow for heliophysics, purple for planetary, orange for astrophysics, and pink for biological & physical science. Numerous missions are marked with a red circle and diagonal slash, indicating cancellation โ including major projects like Terra, Aqua, OCO-2, IBEX, MAVEN, Juno, TIMED, New Horizons, and others. Active missions (like Perseverance, Hubble, and Parker Solar Probe) remain unmarked, while future missions are in bold text. The ISS and several lunar landers are shown orbiting Earth and the Moon. The visual emphasizes both the scope and recent losses within NASAโs scientific fleet as of July 2024. A legend in the bottom right explains the color coding and labeling conventions. - generated by ChatGPT, accuracy checked by me!
A useful infographic showing the full impact to current missions from the proposed budget cuts.
03.06.2025 18:07 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Can anyone recommend places to find artists that sell merch? Pins, stickers, maybe clothes? Online would be lovely, since in person can be out of reach at times.
03.06.2025 02:11 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0A vertical bar chart titled โ19 active science missions cancelledโ displays 19 NASA science missions, each represented by a horizontal line spanning from their launch year to their cancellation point in 2025. The chart notes that these projects represent over $12 billion in taxpayer investment and 180 combined years of development. The missions span from 1999 to 2019 and include Terra, Chandra, ODY, TIMED, Aqua, Aura, New Horizons, THEMIS-ARTEMIS, Fermi, IBEX, Juno, MAVEN, OCO-2, DSCOVR, MMS, OSIRIS-APEX, SAGE-III, GOLD, and OCO-3. Each mission line ends with a red X, indicating cancellation. The source is cited as the FY 2026 White House NASA request, and the chart is credited to The Planetary Society. - alt text generated by ChatGPT and checked for accuracy by me!
For those curious, missions on the chopping block include:
MAVEN, studying Mars climate and weather.
New Horizons, famous for flying by Pluto, currently in the Kuiper Belt.
GOLD, launched only in 2018 to study the effects of the sun on Earthโs atmosphere.
Everything here sucks, but โ19 active inflight missions canceledโ is really a highlight. Scrapping active missions is such a colossal waste of time, money and energy. Not to mention killing off the science those missions would generate.
01.06.2025 15:29 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Plus, think of what this support signals to others. This news has me wondering about the people in my life who like the art. Are they quietly okay with removing my rights, and the rights of people like me?
01.06.2025 15:23 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Engaging with the art (creating fan works, reading used books, etc.) still increases interest in the art. While someone might only read a used copy, and thus try toโwash their hands of itโ the person they sit next to on the bus might be inspired by the book and later buy it, or watch the movie.
01.06.2025 15:23 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Thereโs also the argument about engagement that doesnโt directly support the artist being okay, such as buying one of her books used, but honestly I donโt even think that is separate from the artists actions.
01.06.2025 15:23 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0This news has me thinking about the whole โseparate art from the artistโ topic.
Honestly, I think this is pretty strong evidence that it is impossible to do so. In this case, any engagement with the art that results in the author getting paid directly funds the removal of trans rights.
