Not sure if it’s my algorithm on here but the Discover tab shows me all of the same content. It’s all very left and anti-Republican. Then again, I guess the platform is growing on that sort of content as people leave the muskrat’s app for a different thing…

It does. I’m also tempted to use this as a very interests-based platform

Identity verification on Bluesky (a totally unofficial guide by @keeganleech.co.za).

Some social media platforms append a badge to a profile to show that the platform owner has verified the identity of whoever runs that account. Bluesky doesn't have a feature like this, in part because (as a decentralised service) there isn't a single "platform owner".

So how can you verify that a Bluesky profile is run by the person or organisation it claims to be?

You can still tell that someone is who they claim to be if they link to their account from a website you already trust is theirs. But Bluesky offers something better...

If you control a domain name, you can set it as your Bluesky handle. This confirms that the same person controls both the site at that domain and the Bluesky account with that handle. Convenient!

If verifying your identity is important (e.g. because you are a news organisation, public figure, or likely target for impersonation) setting up a custom handle is vital!
It lets other users confirm your identity at a glance.
For everyone else, it's still a neat feature.

Fortunately, it's easy and free to do*.
Just follow the instructions in:
Settings - Change Handle
(*You will need to own a domain name to do this)

Made this so I can tag every news organisation that's not using its domain name to verify itself as official.

Got quite a few new followers recently so I'll probably pin a post sometime to introduce myself. For now though, some of you are probably new to bsky as a whole so here's a thread suggesting some neat features I've been using to improve my experience (in case you want to try them). 🧡

I haven’t, as yet, decided how I want to use this account. I pretty much stopped engaging in serious thought and debate on twitter because it got boring and people are annoying there.

I kinda want to make this a more serious place πŸ€”

An old photo of Bolsonaro from the hospital looking zombified with a tube up his nose. I know that it is from when he got stabbed while campaigning in the pre-COVID era but someone is going to tell me again anyway.

Every 18 seconds someone tests positive for COVID-19. This is that man.

A pink-necked green pigeon - aka a rainbow pigeon. It has a grey-blue head, pink neck, orange chest, green belly and upper wing feathers, dark blue lower wing feathers and bright pink claws.
