Not quite - it's stuff moving at relativistic speeds in accretion disks - the friction drives the temperatures to ~millions of degrees which radiates intensely (coupled with the complex magnetic outbursts).

I very much disagree - the enclosed pie was for the masses to be eaten on the job, but a good πŸ₯§ eaten at the table needs just a crust.

Both statements are consistent - dark matter annihilation is a possibility, but we don't know enough about the distribution of astrophysical gamma-ray sources to say categorically that it's not a more boring explanation.

We do, sort of, for nearest stars, but as we look radially in or out, the shearing due to the different angular velocities increase.

[Not wanting to contradict, but the disk has differential rotation throughout it - the linear speed is ~220 km/s, but this means that the angular speed drops with distance. The spiral pattern might rotate as a "rigid" structure, but it doesn't contain the same stars as it does so.]

John Michell - Wikipedia

Are you related to John Michell, the first person to predict the existence of black holes? That would be a cool coincidence!

If you are the same person, that would be even more astounding!

"We"? This suggests that it was some outside force that drove the dismissal.

It appears that all the people involved were Australian, even Norman Gunston.

They don't do Guy Fawkes in Australia (but I discovered this weekend that they do in New Zealand). But do we celebrate because he was captured, and the gunpowder plot failed, or because he tried?

Oh I just give up (this was on ABC in Australia, source apparently NASA). And every time anyone calls these moons by a stupid name like Beaver, a small astronomy fairy dies.

Just to note that sharkmouth has fangs, something that sharks don't have. It seems the painter adlibbed a bit on the standard design.
