Ok so far thanks - maybe I’ll do a bit more tomorrow. There are a few cracks towards the base, which I’ve poured some superglue into, but the wood is pretty dry, so hopefully more stable. You’re right though, cherry can split dramatically at times 😀

First stage completed.

Not sure how this one’s going to turn out! It’s a pretty dry chunk of cherry from the garden, which I cut down about three years ago. First step - turn a big tenon on the fat end I think…

I’ve always found cherry very prone to splitting unless rough-turned and dried first.

Hard wax oil is one of my favourite finishes - easy to apply and very tough. 🙂

I have the Crown revolution tool. It looks very similar to the one in the photo. The articulated joint looks very similar, but the cutter head is different. I only really use it with a scraper-type cutting tool fitted. I found the ring cutter too aggressive for my skill levels😀

Those Inkbird thermostats are very good. I’m be got three of them doing various jobs (seed germination, refrigerator control and plant propagation) 👍

I made this new nest box a couple of weeks ago. Within an hour of fixing it to a tree in my Anglesey garden it was occupied. 😀
