Meredith Whittaker is one of the smartest and most articulate leaders in tech I’ve ever seen, and I suspect that her thoughts on agentic AI and the like have more brain cells behind them than all of the rest of Silicon Valley combined.

I can’t believe they tested it and say « yeah it’s great, let’s show it and release it! ».

Something definitely fucked up in the testing process… or then I am just getting old and does not follow the Apple design anymore.

The main difference between android and iOS, imoo, was not about security and openness but UI/UX: each design / feature from Apple was thoughtful, intuitive.

Apple just thrown away all the good stuff to make a big pile of the worst design ideas I never seen.

Android won.

I can’t find an argument to defend that.
It is not even at the level of a junior UI/UX level at its bachelor defense.
So much money thrown out of the window…

To summarize: LLM is overrated, not AI in general.

To me the problem is not AI, it is the weird hype / trend behind it. AI can be incredible and help scientists like AlphaFold did for protein folding. But the hype / trend that stupid CEOs put behind them (OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft,…) is so awful that people begin to be disgusted (for good reason)

I have write « windows laptops » but I include everything other than macs in it actually.

I don’t use a Linux / Windows laptop anymore.
As I want a great battery life and good performances to compile I switched to a MacBook Air M2, and a remote Linux instance if needed.
