Tripwire is the first Reacher novel that I'm not enjoying. The reason falls absolutely at the feet of how Reacher is written. What makes it jarring is that his usual emotional distance is part of his mythos—he’s the man who walks away, not the one who lingers on memories of a teenager.

I didn't realise the writer, Vince Flynn, died in 2013. I loved the book American Assassin and am looking forward to reading, what I now know, will be a finite set of books for Mitch Rapp.
