Here's the second half of our character profile for Marvel #Comics' pre-Thunderbolts Moonstone (Karla Sofen).
During this era, she wasn't as intriguing as Kurt Busiek would make her. But she already was a fairly interesting, useful villain with story arcs.
Pics, #TTRPG stats (DCH and M&M), bio...
The character profile that covered the pre- #Thunderbolts Marvel #Comics Moonstone (Karla Sofen) has been refurbished
It's also now presented in two chapters. Since it was unwieldy to read on a smartphone
Pictures, #TTRPG stats (DCH and M&M), powers, biography, personality, quotes, etc. -our usual
Refurbished our first character profile for Marvel #Comics' Karla Sofen. Who, during this era, isn't Moonstone yet
I don't expect a pre-Moonstone Karla in her early 20s to pop up a lot, except maybe in niche flashbacks. But it makes it simpler to present her life
Pics, #TTRPG stats, bio, skills...
I've just realised that there are now 6,666 articles on the site.
From this, I conclude nothing whatsoever because the current work is a pain in the keister and I'm too busy.
Only Edsel left, I think. Since she was published first, and I'm doing mostly-reverse-chron order.
08.08.2025 14:53 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Refurbished the character profile for Sean Knight, from the #Mage #indie #comics of yore by Matt Wagner.
Like the rest of our contributor Bryan's arc, it only covers The Hero Discovered.
Sean is a good guy ghost, though he didn't know that.
Pictures, #TTRPG stats, powers, quotes, characterisation
Added a character profile for the protag of 1959 #horror #film the Manster. And odd American/Japanese venture that's fairly terrible, but we don't care about that.
What if Hyde was growing out of Jekyll's right side ?
Pictures, #TTRPG stats, biography, capabilities, quotes, etc. - our usual.
Refurbished our profile for the Human Ants of the Sixth Continent, from a 1970s Luc Orient #BD francophone graphic novel.
High-tech hidden civilisation, interesting to use in stories.
Pictures, #TTRPG stats, military, history, organisation, etc.
Added to our #TTRPG article about less lethal guns, the sort of sonic blasters in the Minority Report movie by Spielberg.

Shot in the dark -- does anybody knows whether the new #Cloudflare application security dashboard (and therefore the AI blocking) is available to domains on the free plan ?
(Looks like Cloudflare only has a Twitter account (no Bsky ! no Masto !) and I ain't going there).
Oh.
I had reasonably assumed that the appearance of a thread about the DC Heroes RPG had resulted in a massive spike of frenzied traffic, overwhelming the servers.
Added to our #TTRPG article about special-purpose small melee weapons the "barfstick" seen in the Minority Report movie of yore.
Telescopic batons that induce vomiting.
www.writeups.org/rpg-special-...
Added a new type of grenades to our #TTRPG article about grenades. Which describes grenades, for stories where grenades play a role. Such as being used for grenading.
This time it's the low-tech, pitch-based Byzantine incendiary grenades. With an eye toward fantasy equivalents.
Grenades.
Added a character profile for Michelle Chang, a mystically-inclined Chinese/Native American fighter in early Tekken games.
www.writeups.org/michelle-cha...
Pictures, #TTRPG stats, abilities, biography, fighting styles and all that jazz.
Refurbished the profile for Marvel #Comics' Gargantus II, a very early #IronMan foe.
He's a, err, large hypnotic alien robot disguised as a proto-human. With a Captain Caveman-style club. Look, it was 1963.
Pictures, #TTRPG stats, powers, mission, similar robot models, etc..
Small slowdown since yesterday.
- Taking some gaming breaks due to health and that pre-burnout smell.
- Starting to refurbish Moonstone (Karla Sofen), which is 5-entries series. And I *hate* the style for those entries I wrote back then, so I'm leaving none of my old words unturned.
Refurbished our character profile for Marvel #Comics' Ghost/Night/Phantom Rider (Carter Slade).
Old West cowboy hero with weird tricks making him ghost-like. But not, like, in the sense of not returning calls.
Pictures, #TTRPG stats, biography, lantern and other gadgets, horsey, successors, etc.
Refurbished the character profile for Marvel #Comics' Mister Doll, an early and forgotten #IronMan enemy.
His magic "voodoo" (scare quotes) doll nearly killed Stark, prompting a landmark armour redesign.
Pictures, #TTRPG stats, biography, powers, characterisation, etc. - our usual.
My ability to get lost in Lunacid is amazing.
But I don't think that there's a way to monetize that.
Foiled again.
Refurbished our character profile for the Optimum, a near-future #French #superhero from the Masked graphic novels of the early 2010s.
Pictures, #TTRPG stats (both DC Heroes and #MutantsAndMasterminds), setting, some cultural and historical context, biography, powers, psychogeography, etc..
Refreshed our article about our social media presence. Which is chiefly, but not solely, Bluesky.
Also includes a short primer to following stuff using RSS. Assuming you're badass enough for RSS. Are you badass enough for RSS ? You don't look like you're badass enough for RSS.
I'm finishing to gradually refurbish the older video game articles wot are left.
This time it's our strategy guide for indie #videogame #recettear. It's old, it's cheap, it runs on a toaster, it's good fun, you can play for a while.
Refurbished the character profile for Colonel Alain-Jean Assan, from the near-future #superhero #French graphic novels Masked.
Which is also a way to split the explanations about the setting over two profiles. To avoid the dreaded lore dump.
Pictures, #TTRPG stats, biography, characterisation, etc
Right now I have a 13" iPad in me old hands, which may or may not last.
And I must say, writeups.org looks darn spiffy on it. Except for the Amazon bits that don't resize correctly, because capitalism will always betray you. Or some such.
Beatboxing works even better.
03.08.2025 16:59 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Can't talk now, I'm blurring the horse's mane so the background removal doesn't result in over-sharp edges ! Priorities, folks !
03.08.2025 09:14 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Gonna append this to my own spiel about using RSS. Which'll also be an occasion to bump this article up onto the site's homepage.
Ms. White and I tend to have comparable methods and ethics, so her advice will likely interest our readers.
Ugh. Briefly thought I had lost my browser workspaces.
Then my PC gave me a big fright (sometimes the CPU takes a freakishly long time to come online).
Then I had to call my bank who's failing to process a payment. They don't get it either.
I'm all outta crip spoons. WORG stuff's gonna be late. ๐ฟ
Quiet encouragement to our readers in the UK to experiment with VPNs (Proton for familiarisation, then Mullvad if you use it a lot) while this is still safe and easy.
