I also made veggie broth for the first time. Easy as pie. Probably cost ten times as much as three boxes of broth from Pacific Foods, but it's fresh, organic, and has no onions or salt.

I'm allergic to onions and on a low sodium diet. That's why I wanted to make my own in the first place.

This is my year to learn to make bread. I started off easy with cornbread from a Krusteaz mix. It's delicious.

Improvised a very simple chipotle dipping sauce for my sweet potato fries today. It was perfect!

whisk together:
2 Tb mayo
2 TB sour cream

whisk in chipotle spice to taste (c. 1/4 to 1/2 tsp) --- make sure it's fresh; stale chipotle spice is gross

Haven't decided yet if I will refill the plastic jug or just use it straight out of the milk carton. I suspect the latter, since it looks sturdy enough. And easier to lift for these old hands.

I hate plastic with a passion! I'm always delighted to find an alternative. Today I finished a half gallon of Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Soap. Gritted my teeth to buy another half gallon, but found this refill instead. I'm so happy!

i got my first serious digital camera for christmas in 2007 ... immediately shot hundreds of pictures, and almost every one was out of focus ... i had a lot to learn ... but I always thought this one was a happy accident

It made a delicious and very different chili -- hot and smokey. Too darn hot, toned it down with a baked potato and sour cream.

There were a ton of leftovers. I put a short quart in the freezer and a pint in the fridge for tomorrow.
