I try to analyze how the real world works when I write and worldbuild but for this literally I can't because there's no why to anything. They just don't fucking care about anything or anyone outside of themselves. "Cartoon level evil" is meaningless when cartoon evil makes more sense than real evil.

Isn't it kind of fucked up that the major villains of the real world are complete garbage for a story.

Literally they're all just "take over the world and get all the money" villains with no real motivation behind it other than just being Fucking Evil apparently.

It's like you said, the what and how of media are important. But apparently the only options are "let people jack it to kids" and "ban porn entirely" with anything in between being impossible. Like. No. There's *always* been a responsibility on creators to consider the ethics in art. It's not new.

I see the video game thing a lot but I feel like it's often forgotten that the US army does *actively* get involved with media, video games especially, to recruit youth. If fiction has no effect on people, then propaganda wouldn't be as effective as it is, and we wouldn't be where we are now.

This type of lighting needs to come back badly. It’s almost insane how much it helped set the mood for things like Batman TAS, Akira, NGE, Japans Cyberpunk Anime scene in the 80s/90s, Heavy Metal.
