Despite advances in antiretroviral therapy and evidential proof that people on effective HIV treatment cannot pass the virus on, stigma continues to negatively impact the lives of many people living with HIV. People living with HIV continue to experience stigma when engaging with healthcare professionals which is leading to worse outcomes for patients. Stigma and misinformation about HIV remains a significant barrier to HIV prevention initiatives such as HIV testing and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP). This zero HIV stigma day we must continue to address HIV related stigma in all settings so that no person living with HIV is left behind.

Today is #ZeroHIVStigmaDay – a powerful reminder of the urgent need to reduce stigma where possible.
