Patrick Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Brent Spiner as Lt. Commander Data tracking the Nexus in the Enterprise-D's stellar cartography room. While stellar cartography has previously been seen in the STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION episode "Lessons" as a redress of the oft-used science lab, this new multi-level set was created for STAR TREK GENERATIONS. Initially intended to be a spherical room, stellar cartography was ultimately a cylindrical, two-level set due to the relatively low budget the filmmakers had to work with.

Seal of the United Federation of Planets as it appeared as a backlit graphic located in drydock gallery at the start of STAR TREK GENERATIONS. The seal went on to appear on the August/September 1996 cover of STAR TREK COMMUNICATOR magazine which also included a fold out poster. It was one of many contributions by artist Dave Archer whose space vista paintings were used as set decoration in the crew quarters and observation lounge of the Enterprise-D in STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION's earlier seasons as well as in the dining room of the Enterprise-A in STAR TREK VI: THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY. Archer also contributed the backlit painting of the Nexus that was featured in Guinan's quarters in STAR TREK GENERATIONS, which found its way to Guinan's Earthbound 10 Forward bar decades later in STAR TREK: PICARD.

I feel like some higher-ups in charge of Star Trek are always like, "We can't just cater to the established audience, we need to grow and reach new younger audiences" and that's how we get this and the aesthetics of the Section 31 movie but I dunno, man

I’d take this further in how it once (and still can, at its best) cross divides. That anybody could ever say ST wasn’t political is INSANE to me, but also quite wonderful.

Star Trek IV The Voyage Home scene.
