Genuinely delighted by my bookcase find. I've been scouting the local second hand stores for one for months and was almost at the point of buying a cheap and poor quality flat-pack one online. Then I walk past the shop literally round the corner from my home today and what do I see? 🤩🤩

The latest episode of @lateralcast.com talks about an anime protagonist being killed off in the last episode of her show by a truck. I wonder if @tomlumperson.bsky.social had the same thought I did. "Eh it's fine. Hit by truck-kun? She'll be reincarnated in another world for sure."

I could have been reading my awesome period mystery/drama light novel for an hour, but no I had to sit next to Mr Archetypal 80 year old white conservative who refused to accept that as I too am white and cis-male passing (actually nb), I must want to hear about and agree with his world views.

Started painting another squad of Warhammer 40k minis. This time it's some Space Marine assault intercessors to add to my small army of Salamanders (which I picked because of the same reason I pick all my warhammer painting projects, I like their colour scheme. 😅)

I played through Elden Ring 4x when it came out, 100%ing the steam achievements and exploring every corner of the map, and have watched several other playthroughs since then.

I was today years old when I realised that people's "touch grace" messages were a "touch grass" pun. 😭😭🤣

(I really do still prefer reading physical books when I can, but I'm also very wary of buying the same series twice coz, well, I could buy more different books with that money. XD)

I'm encountering the best kind of problem for a reader to have. A book series I just read the first book of digitally is getting a physical release, but there are nine books in the series out digitally already and I don't wanna have to wait like 2 years for them to all be published in paperback. :c

There's a few songs out there that I loved as a teenager but I now look back on and wince because they absolutely have "This isn't unrequited love, this is unhealthy stalker obsessiveness" vibes in their lyrics. Which sucks because I still really like the music, just not the meaning behind it. ;-;

Breath of the Wild remains gorgeous. I'm not really a "graphics are super important to me" gamer, but I'm actually glad I bought the BOTW Switch 2 edition upgrade. <3

- Comes up with a fun Zootopia story idea.

- Comes up with a cute title for it.

- Starts writing.

- Stops.

- Thinks: "Wait, doesn't that title sound familiar?"

- Checks, realises I've written a story with that same title/theme.

- Shrugs, makes it a sequel. 😂

Hahaha yeah. I'm a big fan of "enthusiastic sincere enjoyment of a niche interest being communicated to a lay audience" so being able to get that from anime as well as youtuber video essayists is huge for me. XD

(and most of them are pretty fun and chill). Off the top of my head I can think of ones about ramen, board games, trivia/quizzing, camping (two of those actually), dinosaurs (this one doesn't have an anime yet, but it should), and the Edo period. Ruri Rocks is still a pretty standout one, though. <3

There's a whoooole sub-genre of anime that are either "the creator of the original manga was massively into this thing and this is their way of sharing it in an edutainment/look at my special interest" kinda way, or "this was co-created with support from this industry/location/business".
