Canadian here. There's only partial truth in that. Four levels of relationships between Canada and the US. Federal to Federal, Province to State, City to City, and Person to Person. Yeah, I've been wrestling with this all year. Quite a lot of policy will be detrimental to the underlying economy, and that doesn't seem to be priced in. I've closed out my positions with first order exposure to US markets and am in a holding pattern until... something?... happens.

Left wing/right wing is also a gross oversimplification of viewpoints in most countries. Its only real use is in creating division and sowing discontent with the "other" side. Anger is watered down when there's more than one target to point it at, and that's less useful for those trying to farm it.

I've always believed that othering and creating tribes based on a single dimension, and without firsthand experience, is silly. Life is more nuanced than that. Treat people with openness and fairness based on your experiences with them, until they don't reciprocate.

Also kind of ignores that the PM and Premiers are equals, at least from a governance structure perspective. Which is supposed to matter, POGG and all.

Not to mention that othering is wildly counterproductive and in many cases, dangerous. Generational-based tropes and tribal bucketing is no different. I've always advocated for forming your own conclusions about a person based on firsthand experience.
