08.10.2025 20:56 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0The risk is that the one level (Federal to Federal) tanks all of the others. This isn't what any of us want, but unless Americans fight back, it may very well happen. We won't roll over.
08.10.2025 04:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Canadian here. There's only partial truth in that. Four levels of relationships between Canada and the US. Federal to Federal, Province to State, City to City, and Person to Person. Only one of those has gone to complete shit (Federal to Federal). There are tensions, yes. But there is also a future.

07.10.2025 20:31 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Two great heritage buildings in downtown Auckland, shot on my phone. The Old Customs House 1888, now ironically a duty free store, and West Plaza 1974 by Neville Price. Both buildings more than a little derivative, the later inspired by Pontiβs Pirelli Tower 1958, Milan. The former, well obviously..

06.10.2025 00:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah, I've been wrestling with this all year. Quite a lot of policy will be detrimental to the underlying economy, and that doesn't seem to be priced in. I've closed out my positions with first order exposure to US markets and am in a holding pattern until... something?... happens.

05.10.2025 14:09 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Indeed. At their core, people don't want to feel alone. Belonging counteracts that, and that can (and is) warped and abused by those seeking to do shitty, exploitive things.

Hunh. I mean... maybe they're doubting the usefulness of the Fibonacci sequence? SETI could also be an ultra secret mind control device. Those dishes are mighty yuge.

05.10.2025 01:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Left wing/right wing is also a gross oversimplification of viewpoints in most countries. Its only real use is in creating division and sowing discontent with the "other" side. Anger is watered down when there's more than one target to point it at, and that's less useful for those trying to farm it.
05.10.2025 01:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I've always believed that othering and creating tribes based on a single dimension, and without firsthand experience, is silly. Life is more nuanced than that. Treat people with openness and fairness based on your experiences with them, until they don't reciprocate.
05.10.2025 01:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Also kind of ignores that the PM and Premiers are equals, at least from a governance structure perspective. Which is supposed to matter, POGG and all.

Not to mention that othering is wildly counterproductive and in many cases, dangerous. Generational-based tropes and tribal bucketing is no different. I've always advocated for forming your own conclusions about a person based on firsthand experience.
