Will say that we love Zellweger short term projection. The comps short term make much more sense with where he is at. Something to keep in mind, especially with RFA LT vs ST, is finding a LT number that makes the player sign now. In other words, "pay me X $'s on a LT deal or else I'll just wait".

Chiarot comes in at an AAV higher than projected but within the expected range (there are comps that point to it being reasonable) on his new deal with the Detroit Red Wings. Three year commitment seems to be a bit much, but it should be a manageable contract as cap rises. #LGRW

Sam Malinski has signed a new deal with the Colorado Avalanche! He has been an elite 3rd pair defenseman this year. While extra UFA year bought at this age often = higher AAV, this new deal seems to suggest he might be given a slightly larger role in the near future! #GoAvsGo

We've seen some calls recently for Detroit Red Wings defenseman Mo Seider to be more firmly in the Norris Trophy conversation... Yeah, he should be. #LGRW #MaxStat

Another sneak peek to an unreleased projection: Josh Doan and the Buffalo Sabres have a deal! A touch over projected AAV but two extra UFA years. Very solid for the team to get Doan under $7M AAV on a 7 year term! #NHL #Sabrehood

A more well-rounded, stronger season this year and finds himself as the top UFA D, we would expect a similar deal to Jacob Chychrun.

Another extension before we release our midseason projections!👀 From earlier today, Balinskis signed a deal with the Florida Panthers. Solid player to have in his role, generally limited to a third pair defenseman (as he scores tonight). #NHL #TimeToHunt

We were expecting Broberg to come in line with Alexander Romanov and JJ Moser recently signed contracts. Total value ends up similar but two less years is very good for the player. Broberg is eating minutes but #STLBlues are hoping to see a little more play-driving with this contract.

Dvorak comes in with one extra year at a lower AAV. That said, he still hits the projected total value. He is having his best offensive year his season, with some iffy defensive play. #NHL #LetsGoFlyers

🚨PROJECTION SNEAK PEEK: The cap going up significantly is starting to produce some contracts that people didn't really see coming. EX: Wennberg $6M AAV. We are in the middle of running our next batch of projections and here is where we landed with Dvorak... #LetsGoFlyers #NHL

Nashville Predators and Justus Annunen agree to a 2 year, $1.25M AAV contract. This is perfectly fine for a backup goalie.

Alexey Toropchenko and #STLBlues agreed to a 2 year, $2.5M extension. Based on our projections from May, this is perfectly reasonable for a solid depth player.

We kindly ask teams to hold-off on more extensions until we can release our mid-season updates this month. 👀

Wennberg and the San Jose Sharks have agreed to an extension. Ideally, he is a 3C who my play a bigger role at times. $6M is probably a bit steep but #TheFutureIsTeal have plenty of money to spend! #NHL

No graphic bc of some technical issues. But #TBL JJ Moser gets 8 years, $6.75M, which is significantly more than our projection of 4 years, ~$5M AAV. Major reason is Moser has been tremendous this year and our projections haven't been updated to reflect current season performance (at least not yet 👀
