FWIW, here is our Edvinsson extension projection from May. In general, the way the market has shifted, his value is potentially higher than the projected $8.4M AAV. That said, as @prashanthiyer.bsky.social mentioned below, some recent deals could help DET keeps him below $9M AAV. #NHL #LGRW

Think this is a team-friendly comp for the Wings when working on the extension for Simon Edvinsson. Having Hughes come in at 9.42%, LaCombe at 8.65%, and Hutson at 8.51% may help the Wings keep Edvinsson between 8.4%-8.6% ($8.74 million - $8.94 million)

Suppose the main point we are getting at is in say, 3 years, the Gustavsson AAV will be similar to 1A money. It’s very possible that if Wallstedt develops into the franchise goalie everyone hoped, they’d be fine either keeping a really strong tandem or would be able to trade Gustavsson at that AAV

Will say that at this AAV, don’t think it 100% means Wallstedt doesn’t have a future in Minnesota. But it certainly helps buy time for Wallstedt to gradually transition from backup to 1B workload. Or, yes, it’s possible this eventually becomes a Saros/Askarov situation.
