I really appeal to the many Wall Street folks who either endorsed Trump or insisted that things would be okay with him as president to now speak up: Is this what you endorsed? Are you okay with this type of logic by your commander-in-chief?

14.07.2025 10:13 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Yes, there is indeed a housing crisis in many EU countries. No, it has not been caused by the EU, it is national competence. No, it will not be solved by closing the borders and introducing the state of emergency. High time governments do more fixing and less scapegoating.

We have a great job opportunity for an economic analyst focused on fiscal in our Brussels office BUT so far hardly any women have applied. Pls help us changed that and spread the word! Job posting: dezernatzukunft-my.sharepoint.com/:b:/g/person...
07.07.2025 06:27 — 👍 60 🔁 66 💬 3 📌 0Why highlight Elon Musk who demonstratively doesn’t know anything about fiscal policy matters, and who has vested interests?
99.9% of recognised fiscal policy experts are critical as well - and not because it cuts Elon’s subsidies!
The usual confusion - on all sides, sadly - between immigration, refugees and those in between. The first and second categories are (or should be) easy. The third category is the tricky one.

All you’ll be doing is to shift the insurance against such events from the public budget to the creditors - who’ll charge you a premium (which will be excessive because of the uncertainty).
You following him around?
And, even more importantly, did you come super early, or is he. It filling stadiums anymore?
Outrageous indeed! It should be treated like manslaughter!

Can you imagine how much the GOP would never shut up if the French denied a visa to one of them? www.nytimes.com/2025/06/19/w...
I wish more leaders would do the same.
19.06.2025 09:51 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0As the world’s FX experts seem to get louder wrt the “strangely weak” dollar, it might be worthwhile listening to a more fundamental call - eg from @sandertordoir.bsky.social who has had it right all along: Trump’s policies as a whole is bad for the dollar!
I agree! More to come.
Brilliant! And thanks for the brief summaries.
I only knew Thomas Mann from his later years, so your summary of his earlier years only goes to remind us of the importance of being able to change our mind.
It would have been good if Carney had corrected him on this clearly verifiable fact.
16.06.2025 19:30 — 👍 2 🔁 1 💬 0 📌 0Genuine question: In top-level politics, is it the right - or the smart - thing to do what Mark Carney does? - namely letting Trump spread this complete madness, or should he maybe have corrected him?

Bravo!
From CBO (h/t Krugman):
Distribution of pain and gain from Trump’s BBB.
The far-right column of biggest net gainers helped finance Trump’s campaign - while the negative dark greens towards the left side voted to a large extent for him.
Strange world indeed.
Agreed!
