Her community rallied so fast and so diligently. This is a victory to uphold and celebrate. Reminds everyone that it's worth fighting back.

This photo was sent to me by someone else who was exposed to HC on Saturday.

They added that they also felt extremely tired, confused, had a sore thoat and felt nauseous Saturday night and Sunday. They told me that they have been exposed to teargas before but had never had this experience.

Just a quick update from the Twin Cities. (Please forgive the unsolicited message). THINGS ARE NOT BETTER IN MINNEAPOLIS. The media is mostly moving on, Trump is focused on other stuff, BUT NOTHING HAS CHANGED ON THE GROUND. More than 2,000 DHS thugs continue to roam the streets, abducting people 24/7, assaulting legal observers with impunity, and routinely denying 1st, 4th, and 5th amendment rights. Drones and helicopters are overhead every day. Hundreds and hundreds of terrified families have not left their homes since mid-December ... relying on the community to bring them food and help with rent and other necessities. (Those people are NOT violent drug cartel sex offending murderers, as DHS would tell you. Most are legal residents or citizens.) If anything, things have just become more stressful and intractable (think trench warfare as a suitable metaphor): The resistance is better organized and numerous, but DHS has become more clever and better at disguise... and the county sheriff's office is increasingly supporting them . Do not let anyone tell you that Homans (the new person in charge of the occupation) is making anything better. Do not let anyone tell you that 700 ICE agents leaving the city has made much of a difference; the remaining force (again, ~2,000) is still larger than the entire city's police force (which is legally unable to do anything). Please call your congressional reps ... especially if there is any chance the administration might listen to them.

A desperate plea sent to me by a Minneapolis resident who's been on the front lines since the beginning of the ICE occupation:

There are so very many things that are fucked up about how things are in Minnesota right now and it is hard to tell what the outside world knows about.

The street blockades may seem odd . . . if you haven't seen the way ICE & CBP drive.

They obey basically zero rules of the road. They speed, they go the wrong way on one way streets, they run lights & stop signs.

Even if you aren't someone they try to intimidate, arrest, or abduct they're putting lives at serious risk.

Slowing them down may save lives for multiple reasons.

But Liam was scared and frequently asked what they had done wrong, where they were and what happened to the little blue knit hat he wore the day he was detained, Conejo said.

There wasnโ€™t much he could say to his son, โ€œexcept hug him and tell him everything would be OK,โ€ Conejo said.

Worried about further upsetting his son, Conejo said, he was forced to bite back his own tears.

Liam has since been reunited with his hat and continues to wear it, even inside the house, his dad said Thursday. Asked how he might one day explain to Liam everything that has happened, Conejo said he would tell his son that he had become the face of hope and change.

"He was the global figure who did all this so that the voices of the people demanding freedom would be heard, especially those of the children who are still locked up," Conejo said. โ€œI would tell him he was very brave and that I am very proud of him.โ€

They're trying to tell us that they always get what they want. That there is nothing so hideous that they won't do it, even if it's kidnap a five year old child and then, when they lose, really try even harder to make him suffer more.

Fuck them.

JUST IN: A federal judge has barred ICE and DHS from using taxpayer information provided by the IRS.

Judge Talwani says that DHS' view that noncitizens lack 4th amendment rights โ€” combined with ICE use of administrative warrants โ€” is a recipe for abuse.

Some Public Health Service officers quit rather than serve in ICE detention centers A special corps of health care workers have been called in to work with detained immigrants and many feel deeply conflicted about the assignment, saying they're not able to provide good care.

ICE has been building so many detention facilities that it doesn't have enough health care staff so it's been pulling people in from other agencies and they are NOT having it.

I think one thing people outside Minnesota don't understand is that after Good and Pretti were killed by feds while observing, the most normal people you could imagine have made peace with the fact that they could be next, and they are still out there because they say it's the right thing to do.

What it's like to see ICE tear gas kids Attendees at a Portland, OR protest describe a vicious, unprovoked and sudden attack

Everything moves so fast now. It's impossible to give every event the care and attention it deserves, especially when the bar is "at least no one died."

But what happened in Portland outside the ICE building was evidence of yet another escalationโ€”and a terrifying harbinger of things to come.
