Correct. If the birthdate field contains corrupt or mismatched data, it defaults to 1875-05-20, which serves as a flag. May 20, 1875, is the day the international standards and metrics treaty was signed. Everything is a conspiracy when you don’t know how anything works.

Wise words from @edwardlucas.bsky.social
"One unexploited weapon is visa sanctions against enablers. [...] USA and EU can put these pinstriped accomplices on their visa blacklists. If all Western countries did this, keeping a snout in the enemy’s trough would suddenly look less attractive."

Thinking that that this is just the beginning. We are not wired to behave differently. All our systems plus millions of years of evolution have us on a path.

That’s such a shame. (Hope your family came out okay?) And yes, impossible in the US. Here too for a long time. Stuff happening for the greater good feels less likely not more when we most need it. Im fairly pessimistic about humans in general in these times. Can’t help….

Twitter at its best though was great. Could spend ages in there and come out and not feel like you’d wasted all that time. Unlike Facebook which is pure algorithmic empty calories. Facebook teaches nothing. Twitter used to be a fount of information.

Twitter is still the one place to go for all it’s faults despite Space Karen trying to fuck it all up. But it has got noticeably worse in the past few months for various “isms”. Elno stoking a lot of it. The good it has in times of emergency is too valuable to be a rich man’s play thing.

It’s all getting split up. Twitter, Mastodon, Bluesky and Threads.
Bad.
