Thank your local archivist and librarian.

I'm immensely grateful to the staff at @folger.edu for working to allow me to view and handle Edwin Booth's Richard III tunic yesterday. Textiles are such a beast to preserve and make accessible. Being able to spend time with this costume meant the world.

Generally a tea gown describes an earlier period, the late 19th century liminal garment not worn out of the house but suitable for refreshments at home. This is a later version, a mid 1940s tea gown of peachy pink silk with cream lace inserts, V&A #FashionHistory πŸ—ƒοΈπŸͺ‘

Wishing a very happy birthday to the wonderful Bill Richardson!

If you and the kids could use a laugh, his books just can’t be beat. We don’t think we’ve ever laughed harder than when we first read HARE B&B!

I think it would be great if we all stopped asking image generators to come up with text. Unless I'm grossly mistaken, this is not what they are designed to do, so proving they can't give correct answers is useless. Meanwhile, each query uses more energy, more water, all for clicks and likes.

In Memoriam: Joan Leishman January 17, 1958 – d. August 3, 2025 As a young reporter working for a local TV station, Joan was drawn to international affairs. She moved to Mexico City as a freelancer in 1985…

PEN Canada is heartbroken by the passing of Joan Leishman, a journalist and long-time advocate for refugee writers.

She was a stalwart member of the PEN family and an unstinting supporter of the Writers in Exile community.
