Australia Invents a Compass That Can't Be Lied To Quantum Gravimetry, GPS-Free Navigation, and the Coming Revolution in Warfare

open.substack.com/pub/wesodonn... Fascinating article on plan b to counter insecurity of GPS systems and the role of extreme precision in military doctrine.

Lemme just say if President Bernie Sanders had unilaterally imposed, by executive fiat, hundreds of billions of new taxes, personally browbeat executives about job cuts and investments and then fired the head of BLS, the Chamber of Commerce and the business orgs would not be sitting idly by.

It's all third spaces, baby. Used to go bowling, used to cover Skynyrd in the garage, used to have a car club. Now we've got Theo Von on in the F-350 on the way home from your 11-hour workday.

Today and always, grateful for her leadership.

I want to ask people who "aren't surprised" what their response plan is then. Oh you saw this coming? So you've had time to plan a reaction. What's the next step then?

We don't need more "know it all"s and "I told you so"s, we need people ready to make change on both small and large scale.

Hey Democratic house members, guess what I’m gonna be expecting from you from now on?

(this is why I protested knowing I’d be arrested. you need to fucking FIGHT, and this is a good start, but I want MORE. the American populace wants MORE. fucking FIGHT)

It's become clear that this administration is just a protracted war on anybody who's read a book without pictures in it. It's a miracle we're all still getting up and going to work every morning. The psychological drain is the point, and I'm increasingly grateful to the people who are still decent.

Justice Dept. asks court to release Epstein grand jury testimony Attorney General Pam Bondi had vowed to ask a court Friday to unseal pertinent grand jury records amid a political outcry over the Trump administration’s actions on the case.

Let’s be clear about this: an investigative file can have cabinets full of documents, video and audio tapes, FBI 302s (interview reports), physical evidence, and reams of other records and materials. The grand jury may only see a small portion.

A photoshopped version of a still from the now-infamous kiss-cam shot of the Astronomer CEO & his HR mistress, caught in an embrace... except this one has a young David Byrne circa 1980 - think "Once In A Lifetime" - "THIS IS NOT MY BEAUTIFUL WIFE!" That's one of the lyrics from the song. remember?
"... And you may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"
And you may ask yourself, "Where is that large automobile?"
And you may tell yourself, "This is not my beautiful house"
And you may tell yourself, "This is not my beautiful wife!"
Yes, that's right, I'm explaining the joke. Why? Because as a moderately neurodivergent person, I often find myself missing the joke & feeling stupid, so I don't like to think about OTHERS possibly missing the joke & feeling stupid - be they neurodivergent or not - maybe just not familiar with the material. Hence... the explanation. You're welcome.

If it's produced, streamed, or owned by Paramount, I'm not watching it. They don't get a view from me. They don't get a dime from me. Call it a boycott. Call it whatever you want. Colbert is the only Paramount property I'll watch until May, and after that, I'm done with them.

Fascism For First TimeΒ Founders Over the last year or so I've seen a disturbing tendency in tech/startup/VC worlds to buy into the neoreactionary view that for startups to be successful they need to get on board the Trump train. Yes, there are the big name folks who everyone knows about and who didn't really surprise anyoneβ€”Peter Thiel, Marc Andreessen, David Sacks, Elon Musk (pre-fallout)β€”but the more troubling trend has been watching younger entrepreneurs and VCs listen to their podcasts, read their posts and books, and slowly nod along to the idea that democracy is holding back innovation.

I'd just like to point out how weird it is that places with hundreds or even thousands of reporters β€” the NYT, WaPo, CBS, NBC, AP, etc. β€” are all getting pummeled on every major story by the dozen computerboys at Wired. To fumble the bag this consistently is, at some point, cowardice and a choice.

Zohran Mamdani’s not-so-radical agenda Despite the Democratic nominee for NYC mayor being labeled a communist, his agenda actually promises something much more ideologically modest.

Mamdani's agenda is not actually particularly radical if you take 5 fucking minutes to learn something about the details, which approximately 1% of political journalists have bothered to do.

Not that anyone cares, but now that JD Vance has cast the tiebreaking vote for $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts, I'm reupping these Vance quotes from 2017, in which he flatly declared that Medicaid cuts like these betray Trumpism's promises to the working class:
