It’s why a victim-empowered approach to reconciliation in US race relations is necessary. Because White Americans have proven, historically, that we will limit, hedge, or pull-back from meaningful efforts.

And even if they aren’t used as a wedge I know that Black institutions and communities are targeted in ways that others are not. This creates a cycle of looking for presumed Black “problems” and greater emphasis on policing Black activities/groups and back round again.

Your post is the first I’ve seen of pushback against or attacks on BlackSky.

But I know enough to support active moderation of communities and the web largely AND to know that attacks on the Black community & institutions are often a wedge to undermine related institutions more broadly.

So I absolutely agree that the internet needs considered moderation to achieve the best results. Keep it up BlackSky.

I’m not on Blacksky, but I am always supportive of effective moderation that excludes bigotry. I’m involved in moderating one large Reddit and a decent sized hobby discord. In both, intentional diversity in moderator identity and a focus on making the place inclusive makes them better not worse.

But hopefully because they are financially or legally ruined. 😀

Similar to history. They “do history” by taking bits and pieces out of context, misconstruing historians they disagree with ideologically to claim that they lied, and the. implying that the other’s “lie” means that their claim is true—though without dealing with larger contexts.

These ARE concentration camps. The question isn’t whether our country will have them. It’s for how long.

We must dismantle the camps. Then bring the perpetrators to justice. Then we must dismantle the systems that enable them. Then we must create systems and education to ensure they never do again.
