As Today is Save the Frogs Day, we wanted to spread awareness of the deadly chytrid fungus.🦠 This aggressive pathogen is a major threat to amphibians worldwide as it attacks the skin of the infected host.🐸 Washing muddy shoes and equipment before travelling is a good way to reduce it's spread! 🥾🧼

Sadly frogs are the most threatened class of vertebrates worldwide.🌍 Factors ranging from habitat loss to infectious chytrid fungus mean more than 40% of species are at real risk of extinction.🌿🍄 A not so fun froggy fact!

All toads are frogs but not all frogs are toads....🧐
this is because toads are actually a subgroup of frogs!🧬

The smallest frog is the Brazilian Flea toad at just 6.45 millimetres.🔍 While the largest is the African Golliath frog which can grow to 35 cm and 3kg.⚖️ Aptly named!🐸

Think frogs are only found in aquatic habitats? Think again! From the arctic circle to the driest deserts, frogs can be found in almost all terrestrial climates 🏜️❄️⛰️

Frogs are by far the most speciose group of Amphibians.🌍 Out of the approximate 8000 amphibians species currently described, over 90% are frogs!
